Remove the victim into fresh air. Respiratory problems: consult a doctor/medical service.
Symptoms: Dry/sore throat. Coughing. Irritation of the respiratory tract. Irritation of the nasal mucous membranes. ON CONTINUOUS EXPOSURE/CONTACT: Corrosion of the upper respiratory tract. FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS MAY APPEAR LATER: Possible laryngeal spasm/oedema. Risk of pneumonia. Risk of lung oedema. Respiratory difficulties.
Do not apply (chemical) neutralizing agents without medical advice. Remove clothing while washing. Do not remove clothing if it sticks to the skin. Cover wounds with sterile bandage. Consult a doctor/medical service. If burned surface > 10%: take victim to hospital.
Symptoms: Caustic burns/corrosion of the skin.
Rinse immediately with plenty of water for 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Do not apply (chemical) neutralizing agents without medical advice.
Symptoms: Corrosion of the eye tissue. Permanent eye damage.
Rinse mouth with water. Immediately after ingestion: give lots of water to drink. Do not induce vomiting. Immediately consult a doctor/medical service. Call Poison Information Centre (www.big.be/antigif.html). Take the container/vomit to the doctor/hospital. Do not give chemical antidote. Ingestion of large quantities: immediately to hospital. Doctor: gastric lavage.
Symptoms: Nausea. Abdominal pain. Blood in stool. Blood in vomit. Burns to the gastric/intestinal mucosa. AFTER INGESTION OF HIGH QUANTITIES: Shock.
Immediate Medical Attention
Depending on the victim's condition: doctor/hospital. Immediately consult a doctor/medical service. Consult a doctor/medical service. Ingestion of large quantities: immediately to hospital.
Medical Treatment
Doctor: gastric lavage.

DIRECT FIRE HAZARD: Non combustible. INDIRECT FIRE HAZARD: Reactions involving a fire hazard: see "Reactivity Hazard". INDIRECT EXPLOSION HAZARD: Reactions with explosion hazards: see "Reactivity Hazard".
Cool tanks/drums with water spray/remove them into safety. When cooling/extinguishing: no water in the substance. Dilute toxic gases with water spray.
Firefighter Protection
Heat/fire exposure: self-contained breathing apparatus (EN 136 + EN 137).
Accidental Release Measures
Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection
Mark the danger area. No naked flames. Keep containers closed. Avoid ingress of water in the containers. Wash contaminated clothes. Large spills/in confined spaces: consider evacuation. In case of hazardous reactions: keep upwind. In case of reactivity hazard: consider evacuation. On contact with moisture/water: keep upwind. On contact with moisture/water: consider evacuation.
Large spills/in confined spaces: consider evacuation. Large spills/in enclosed spaces: self-contained breathing apparatus (EN 136 + EN 137). Large spills/in enclosed spaces: gas-tight suit (EN 943).
Prevent soil and water pollution. Prevent spreading in sewers.
Neutralize spill with lime, sodium bicarbonate, soda (sodium carbonate) or soda ash. Neutralized substance: shovel into closing drums. Carefully collect the spill/leftovers. Damaged/cooled tanks must be emptied. Clean contaminated surfaces with an excess of water. Take collected spill to manufacturer/competent authority. Wash clothing and equipment after handling.
Materials: lime, sodium bicarbonate, soda (sodium carbonate) or soda ash
