๐ซ Inhalation Exposure
Remove the victim into fresh air. Respiratory problems: consult a doctor/medical service.
Symptoms:
Dry/sore throat. Coughing. Irritation of the respiratory tract. Irritation of the nasal mucous membranes. ON CONTINUOUS EXPOSURE/CONTACT: Corrosion of the upper respiratory tract. FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS MAY APPEAR LATER: Possible laryngeal spasm/oedema. Risk of pneumonia. Risk of lung oedema. Respiratory difficulties.
๐๏ธ Skin Contact
Do not apply (chemical) neutralizing agents without medical advice. Remove clothing while washing. Do not remove clothing if it sticks to the skin. Cover wounds with sterile bandage. Consult a doctor/medical service. If burned surface > 10%: take victim to hospital.
Symptoms:
Caustic burns/corrosion of the skin.
๐๏ธ Eye Contact
Rinse immediately with plenty of water for 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Do not apply (chemical) neutralizing agents without medical advice.
Symptoms:
Corrosion of the eye tissue. Permanent eye damage.
๐ฝ๏ธ Ingestion/Swallowing
Rinse mouth with water. Immediately after ingestion: give lots of water to drink. Do not induce vomiting. Immediately consult a doctor/medical service. Call Poison Information Centre (www.big.be/antigif.html). Take the container/vomit to the doctor/hospital. Do not give chemical antidote. Ingestion of large quantities: immediately to hospital. Doctor: gastric lavage.
Symptoms:
Nausea. Abdominal pain. Blood in stool. Blood in vomit. Burns to the gastric/intestinal mucosa. AFTER INGESTION OF HIGH QUANTITIES: Shock.
๐จ Immediate Medical Attention Required
Depending on the victim's condition: doctor/hospital. If burned surface > 10%: take victim to hospital. Immediately consult a doctor/medical service. Call Poison Information Centre (www.big.be/antigif.html). Ingestion of large quantities: immediately to hospital.
Medical Treatment
Doctor: gastric lavage.
