First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

IF INHALED: If breathing is difficult, remove to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing.

Symptoms: Coughing

Skin contact

IF ON SKIN: Wash with plenty of water. If skin irritation occurs: Get medical advice/attention

Symptoms: skin irritation

Eye contact

IF IN EYES: Hold eye open and rinse slowly and gently with water for 15-20 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Obtain prompt consultation, preferably from an ophthalmologist. Immediately call a POISON CENTER/doctor.

Symptoms: serious eye damage

Ingestion

IF SWALLOWED: Immediately call a POISON CENTER/doctor. Do NOT induce vomiting. If vomiting occurs turn patient on side. Wash out mouth with water and give 200-300 ml (half a pint) of water to drink. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Symptoms: Vomiting, Nausea, Diarrhoea

Immediate Medical Attention

Immediately call a POISON CENTER/doctor.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Foam, CO2 or dry powder.

Unsuitable media

Direct water jet may spread the fire.

Specific hazards

Product is not classified as flammable, but will burn on contact with flame or exposure to high temperature. Forms flammable and explosive hydrogen through corrosion of metals (Aluminium), perchloric acid. Can form explosive mixture with air.

Instructions

Fight fire with normal precautions from a reasonable distance. Keep containers cool by spraying with water if exposed to fire.

Firefighter Protection

Fire fighters should wear complete protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Caution - spillages may be slippery. Ensure operatives are trained to minimise exposures. Ensure suitable personal protection during removal of spillages. Shut off leaks if without risk. Do not breathe vapour. Avoid all contact. Do not ingest. If swallowed then seek immediate medical assistance.

Environmental

Avoid release to the environment.

Cleanup methods

Collect and dispose. Adsorb spillages onto sand, earth or any suitable adsorbent material. Transfer to a container for disposal. Wash the spillage area with water. Ventilate the area and wash spill site after material pick-up is complete.

Materials: sand, earth or any suitable adsorbent material

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Ensure operatives are trained to minimise exposures. Ensure adequate ventilation. In case of inadequate ventilation wear respiratory protection. Do not breathe vapour. Avoid all contact. Wear protective gloves/eye protection. Do not ingest. If swallowed then seek immediate medical assistance.

Storage

Store in a cool/low-temperature, well-ventilated (dry) place away from heat and ignition sources. Store in a cool dry place away from sources of heat and UV light.

Hygiene

Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Wash hands before breaks and after work.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Ensure adequate ventilation. Store in a cool/low-temperature, well-ventilated (dry) place away from heat and ignition sources.

Hands

Wear suitable chemical resistant protective gloves for frequent or prolonged operations tested to EN374 with an acceptable permeation test. Contaminated gloves should be carefully rinsed with water before reuse. Breakthrough time of the glove material: refer to the information provided by the gloves' producer. Recommended: Prolonged, direct contact: Nitrile rubber Minimum thickness: 0.11mm) Protective index 6, corresponding > 480 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374. During splash contact: Nitrile rubber Minimum thickness: 1.11mm) Protective index 6, corresponding > 480 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374

Eyes

Use eye protection according to EN 166, designed to protect against liquid splashes. Wear suitable face shield.

Respiratory

Respiratory protection is not necessary if room is well ventilated. In case of inadequate ventilation wear respiratory protection. A suitable mask with filter type A (EN141 or EN405) may be appropriate.

Skin/Body

Wear impervious protective clothing, including boots, lab coat, apron or coveralls, as appropriate, to prevent skin contact.

Environmental

Avoid release to the environment.
