Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

CO2, extinguishing powder or water spray. Fight larger fires with water spray or alcohol resistant foam. Use fire fighting measures that suit the environment.

Unsuitable media

No data available

Specific hazards

Explosible air/vapour mixtures. In case of fire, the following can be released: Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide, Acrolein, Poisonous gases/vapours

Firefighter Protection

Wear self-contained respiratory protective device. Wear a fully protective suit.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Wear protective clothing. Do not breathe aerosol or vapors.

Environmental

Do not allow product to reach sewage system or any water course. Do not allow to penetrate the ground/soil. Dilute with plenty of water.

Cleanup methods

Absorb with liquid-binding material

Materials: sand, diatomite, acid binders, universal binders, sawdust

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Hands

The glove material has to be impermeable and resistant to the product/substance/preparation. Due to missing tests no recommendation to the glove material can be given for the product / preparation / chemical mixture. Selection of the glove material in consideration of the penetration times, rates of diffusion and the degradation. Material of gloves: Nitrile rubber, NBR, Butyl rubber, BR, Natural rubber, NR. The selection of the suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of quality and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Penetration time of glove material: ≥480 min nitrile rubber (~0.35 mm), > 480 min (Butyl rubber ~0.5 mm), 480 min (natural rubber 0.5 mm). The exact penetration time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be observed. The above-mentioned times are based on reference values as per EN 374. Under practical conditions (33 °C – taking into account the body temperature), the maximum wearing time is to be limited to one-third.

Stability and Reactivity

Chemical stability, hazardous reactions, and incompatible materials

Stability

No decomposition if used and stored according to specifications

Reactivity

No further relevant information available

Hazardous reactions

Reacts explosively with peroxides, halogenated hydrocarbons, strong oxidizers. On contact with strong oxidizing substances like nitric acid or other strong acids, explosive reactions may be possible. Steam/air mixtures are explosive when heated intensively. Danger of polymerization

Avoid

To avoid thermal decomposition do not overheat.

Incompatible

peroxides, halogenated hydrocarbons, strong oxidizers, strong oxidizing substances like nitric acid or other strong acids

Decomposition

No hazardous decomposition products if instructions for storage and handling are followed
