First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove the victim to fresh air, keep him calm and warm. In case of problems, consult a doctor.

Skin contact

Remove contaminated clothing. Wash the affected area thoroughly with soap and water. If problems persist, see a doctor.

Eye contact

Immediately flush eyes with water for approximately 10–15 minutes, holding eyes open. If contact lenses are worn, remove them immediately and continue rinsing. If symptoms persist, seek medical attention.

Ingestion

Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Do not induce vomiting. If the person is conscious, rinse mouth and give 2–4 cups of lukewarm water to drink. If symptoms persist, seek medical attention.

Immediate Medical Attention

Special means are not intended.

Medical Treatment

Treatment is symptomatic.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Foam, carbon dioxide, powder, water spray. Adapt to surrounding conditions. In case of extensive fire, foam for polar liquids or flooding with water spray is recommended.

Unsuitable media

Water - full jet.

Specific hazards

Contact with strong oxidizing agents (nitric acid, chromium oxide, potassium chlorate or potassium permanganate) may cause explosion.

Firefighter Protection

Complete protective equipment for firefighters with self-contained breathing apparatus.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

If there is no danger, stop the leak. Keep bystanders out of the danger area.

Environmental

Prevent soil contamination and release into surface or groundwater.

Cleanup methods

Collect the leaked material using a suitable non-combustible sorbent

Materials: sand, diatomaceous earth, earth and other suitable absorbent materials

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Ensure adequate ventilation at the workplace. Wear personal protective equipment (see section 8). Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Avoid breathing vapours/aerosols. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using the product. Wash hands after use. Take off contaminated clothing and wash before reuse.

Storage

Store in tightly closed containers in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area.

Hygiene

Do not eat, drink or smoke when using the product. Wash hands after use. Take off contaminated clothing and wash before reuse.

Fire prevention

Keep away from sources of heat and ignition.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Ensure sufficient extraction and ventilation of the operation (for glycerine less than .10 mg/m³).

Hands

Protective gloves resistant to the product. When choosing appropriate thickness, material and permeability of the gloves, observe recommendations of their particular manufacturer.

Eyes

Use safety glasses if there is a risk of eye contact.

Respiratory

Halfmask with a filter against organic vapors or a self-contained breathing apparatus as appropriate if exposure limit values of substances are exceeded or in a poorly ventilated environment.

Environmental

Observe measures for protection of the environment, see Section 6.2.
