Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Water spray. Alcohol-resistant foam. BC powder. Carbon dioxide.

Unsuitable media

Specific hazards

On burning: release of toxic and corrosive gases/vapours (ammonia, nitrous vapours, carbon monoxide - carbon dioxide). Oxidizes slowly on exposure to air. This reaction is accelerated on exposure to temperature rise and (some) metals. Reacts on exposure to temperature rise with (some) metals: release of highly flammable gases/vapours (hydrogen).

Instructions

Cool tanks/drums with water spray/remove them into safety. Dilute toxic gases with water spray.
