First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove to fresh air.

Skin contact

Molten product can cause thermal burns. In case of burns, immediately cool affected skin for as long as possible with cold water. Wash off immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.

Eye contact

Molten product can cause thermal burns. Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes.

Ingestion

Molten product can cause thermal burns. Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water.

Immediate Medical Attention

Get medical attention immediately if symptoms occur (Inhalation, Skin Contact, Ingestion). Call a physician if irritation persists (Eye contact).

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment.

Unsuitable media

Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire

Specific hazards

Avoid creating dust. Dust can form an explosive mixture with air. Thermal decomposition can lead to release of irritating and toxic gases and vapors.

Firefighter Protection

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit. Use personal protective equipment as required.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Environmental

Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.

Cleanup methods

Use personal protective equipment as required. Take up mechanically, placing in appropriate containers for disposal. Clean contaminated surface thoroughly. Cover powder spill with plastic sheet or tarp to minimize spreading and keep powder dry. Avoid creating dust. Pick up and transfer to properly labeled containers. Where possible allow molten material to solidify naturally.

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Avoid generation of dust. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Storage

Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place.

Hygiene

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas. Showers. Eyewash stations.

Hands

Heat resistant gloves are recommended when handling molten materials.

Eyes

Wear safety glasses with side shields (or goggles).

Respiratory

Use certified respiratory protection equipment meeting EU requirements(89/656/EEC, 89/686/EEC ), or equivalent, when respiratory risks cannot be avoided or sufficiently limited by technical means of collective protection or by measures, methods or procedures of work organization.

Skin/Body

Wear protective gloves and protective clothing.

Environmental

Prevent product from entering drains.
