First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove casualty from exposure ensuring one's own safety whilst doing so. Move to fresh air in case of accidental inhalation of vapours. If unconscious, check for breathing and apply artificial respiration if necessary. If conscious, ensure the casualty sits or lies down. Consult a doctor.

Symptoms: There may be a feeling of tightness in the chest with shortness of breath.

Skin contact

Remove all contaminated clothes and footwear immediately unless stuck to skin. Wash immediately with plenty of soap and water.

Symptoms: There may be mild irritation at the site of contact.

Eye contact

Bathe the eye with running water for 5 minutes. Consult a doctor.

Symptoms: There may be irritation and redness. The eyes may water profusely.

Ingestion

Do not induce vomiting. If conscious, give half a litre of water to drink immediately. If unconscious, check for breathing and apply artificial respiration if necessary. Consult a doctor.

Symptoms: It is unlikely that this substance will be swallowed due to its physical properties. There may be irritation of the throat.

Immediate Medical Attention

Consult a doctor for eye contact, ingestion, and inhalation exposure. If unconscious, check for breathing and apply artificial respiration if necessary.
