First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Move to fresh air, rest, half upright position, loosen clothing. Oxygen or artificial respiration if there is difficulty in breathing. Seek medical advice after significant exposure.

Skin contact

Remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected area with plenty of soap and water. Always seek medical advice. Launder clothing before re-use.

Eye contact

Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Eyelids should be held away from the eyeball to ensure thorough rinsing. Always seek medical advice.

Ingestion

When conscious, rinse mouth, give plenty of water to drink. DO NOT induce vomiting. Seek medical advice.

Immediate Medical Attention

Obtain medical attention immediately (show this safety data sheet).

Medical Treatment

Symptomatic treatment is advised.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Extinguish with dry chemical, foam, water spray, or carbon dioxide.

Unsuitable media

None known.

Specific hazards

Emits toxic fumes under fire conditions (hydrochloric acid (HCl), nitrous gases (NOx), sulphur dioxide (SO2)).

Firefighter Protection

Fire-fighters should use standard protective equipment and in enclosed spaces, self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Wear respiratory protection. Avoid contact with spilled material. Avoid breathing dust. Avoid breathing vapours or gas.

Environmental

Do not allow to enter drains, sewers or watercourses.

Hands

Chemical resistant gloves are recommended. If contact with forearms is likely, wear gauntlet –style gloves. CEN standards EN 420 and EN 374 provide general requirements and list of glove types. Any specific glove information provided is based on published literature and glove-manufacturer data. Contact the glove manufacturer for glove selection and breakthrough times for your use conditions. Inspect and replace worn or damaged gloves.

Eyes

Wear chemical safety glasses with side shields, or splash-proof goggles

Respiratory

If engineering controls do not maintain airborne contaminant concentrations at a level, which is adequate to protect worker health, an approved respirator may be appropriate. Respirator selection, use, and maintenance must be in accordance with regulatory requirements. Types of respirator to be considered for this mixture include: dust mask (respirator with filter P2); half-face filter respirator; Type A filter material CEN standards EN136, EN140 and EN 405 provide respirator masks and EN 149 and EN 143 provide filter recommendations

Skin/Body

If contact with forearms is likely, wear gauntlet –style gloves.
