Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

If breathing is irregular or stopped, immediately seek medical assistance and start first aid actions. Provide fresh air.

Skin contact

Wash with plenty of soap and water.

Eye contact

Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Irrigate copiously with clean, fresh water for at least 10 minutes, holding the eyelids apart.

Ingestion

Rinse mouth with water (only if the person is conscious). Do NOT induce vomiting.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Water mist, Fire extinguishing powder, Carbon dioxide (CO2)

Unsuitable media

Water jet

Instructions

In case of fire and/or explosion do not breathe fumes. Co-ordinate firefighting measures to the fire surroundings. Fight fire with normal precautions from a reasonable distance.

Firefighter Protection

Use suitable breathing apparatus.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Remove persons to safety.

Environmental

Keep away from drains, surface and ground water. Retain contaminated washing water and dispose of it.

Cleanup methods

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Use only in well-ventilated areas.

Storage

Store in accordance with local/regional/national/international regulations. Keep container tightly closed and in a well-ventilated place. Keep in a cool place.

Hygiene

Remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment before entering eating areas. Never place chemicals in containers that are normally used for food or drink.

Fire prevention

Keep in a cool place.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Use only in well-ventilated areas.

Hands

Wear suitable gloves. Chemical protection gloves are suitable, which are tested according to EN 374. Check leak-tightness/impermeability prior to use. In the case of wanting to use the gloves again, clean them before taking off and air them well. For special purposes, it is recommended to check the resistance to chemicals of the protective gloves mentioned above together with the supplier of these gloves. Wear protective gloves. Chemical protection gloves are suitable, which are tested according to EN 374. Type of material. NBR: acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber. CR: chloroprene (chlorobutadiene) rubber. PVC: polyvinyl chloride.

Eyes

Work with safety glasses.

Respiratory

In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment. Type: A-P2 (combined filters against particles and organic gases and vapours, colour code: Brown/White).

Skin/Body

Preventive skin protection (barrier creams/ointments) is recommended. Take recovery periods for skin regeneration.

Environmental

Use appropriate container to avoid environmental contamination. Keep away from drains, surface and ground water.
