First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Move the exposed person to fresh air at once. Rinse nose and mouth with water. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

Symptoms: Inhalation of mist or vapor may cause respiratory tract irritation

Skin contact

Remove affected person from source of contamination. Remove contaminated clothing. Wash the skin immediately with soap and water. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

Symptoms: Prolonged contact may cause redness, irritation and dry skin.

Eye contact

Make sure to remove any contact lenses from the eyes before rinsing. Promptly wash eyes with plenty of water while lifting the eye lids. Continue to rinse for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

Symptoms: Prolonged contact may cause redness and/or tearing.

Ingestion

Rinse mouth thoroughly. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

Symptoms: May cause discomfort if swallowed. May cause stomach pain or vomiting.

Immediate Medical Attention

Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Water spray, foam, dry powder or carbon dioxide.

Specific hazards

In case of fire, toxic gases may be formed (COx, NOx).

Instructions

If possible, fight fire from protected position. Keep up-wind to avoid fumes. Avoid breathing fire vapours. Ventilate closed spaces before entering them. Containers close to fire should be removed or cooled with water.

Firefighter Protection

Self contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing must be worn in case of fire.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Stop leak if possible without risk. Wear necessary protective equipment. Absorb spillage with non-combustible, absorbent material. Ensure that waste and contaminated materials are collected and removed from the work area as soon as possible in a suitably labelled container. Wash thoroughly after dealing with a spillage.

Environmental

Do not discharge into drains, water courses or onto the ground.

Cleanup methods

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Read and follow manufacturer's recommendations. Do not handle broken packages without protective equipment. Avoid spilling, skin and eye contact. Do not use contact lenses. Keep away from heat, sparks and open flame. Eliminate all sources of ignition. Observe occupational exposure limits and minimise the risk of inhalation of vapours and mist. Ensure adequate ventilation. Vapours are heavier than air and may spread along floors. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using the product.

Storage

Store in tightly closed original container in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Keep upright. Keep locked up and out of reach of children. Avoid storing for very long periods. Keep container tightly sealed when not in use. Bags or containers, which are opened, must be carefully resealed to prevent leakage.

Hygiene

Do not eat, drink or smoke when using the product.

Fire prevention

Keep away from heat, sparks and open flame. Eliminate all sources of ignition.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Provide adequate ventilation, including appropriate local extraction, to ensure that the defined occupational exposure limit is not exceeded.

Hands

Handle with gloves. Gloves must be inspected prior to use. Use proper glove removal technique (without touching glove's outer surface) to avoid skin contact with this product. Dispose of contaminated gloves after use in accordance with applicable laws and good laboratory practices. Wash and dry hands. The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it. The selection of the suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of quality and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. As the product is a preparation of several substances, the resistance of the glove material can not be calculated in advance and has therefore to be checked prior to the application. Nitrile rubber: Break through time: 480 min, Glove thickness: > 0, 33 mm. Chloroprene: Break through time: 480 min, Glove thickness: > 0, 6 mm.

Eyes

If risk of splashing, wear safety goggles or face shield. Tightly fitting safety glasses (EN 166).

Respiratory

No specific recommendation made, but respiratory protection must be used if the general level exceeds the recommended occupational exposure limit.

Skin/Body

Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.

Environmental

Keep container tightly sealed when not in use.
