First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

In case of inhalation of hot vapours, immediately supply fresh air. If required, provide artificial respiration. Keep patient warm. Obtain medical advice if symptoms persist.

Skin contact

Immediately wash with water and soap and rinse thoroughly. Wash contact areas with soap and water. If burned by contact with hot material, molten material adhering to skin should be cooled as quickly as possible with water, and see a physician for removal of adhering material and treatment of burn.

Eye contact

Rinse opened eye for at least 15 minutes under running water. Get immediate medical attention. In case of contact with hot product, flood with water to dissipate heat. In the event of any material remaining, do not try to remove it other than by continued irrigation with water. Obtain medical attention immediately.

Ingestion

Rinse out mouth and then drink plenty of water.

Immediate Medical Attention

Get immediate medical attention for eye contact. Obtain medical attention immediately for eye contact. See a physician for removal of adhering material and treatment of burn for skin contact. Obtain medical advice if symptoms persist after inhalation.

Medical Treatment

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

CO2, sand, extinguishing powder, water spray jet.

Unsuitable media

Water with full jet.

Specific hazards

In case of fire, the following can be released: Nitrogen oxides (NOx) Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide (COx) Phosphor oxides (POx)

Firefighter Protection

Wear self-contained respiratory protective device.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Clean up spillages promptly as these may make surfaces slippery. Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with molten product and vapour inhalation from hot waxes.

Environmental

Do not allow to enter sewers/ surface or ground water.

Cleanup methods

Pick up solid material mechanically. Absorb liquid components with liquid-binding material.

Materials: liquid-binding material

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Avoid contact with molten product. Wear personal protective clothing (see section 8).

Storage

Keep receptacle tightly sealed. Recommended storage temperature: 80-90 °C

Fire prevention

No special measures required.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Eye wash possibility with fresh water.

Hands

Synthetic rubber gloves (butyl, nitril) Penetration time of glove material The determined penetration times according to EN 16523-1:2015 are not performed under practical conditions. Therefore a maximum wearing time, which corresponds to 50% of the penetration time, is recommended.

Eyes

Safety goggles when handling the molten/heated product if there is danger of splashing.

Respiratory

Protective mask in case of hot vapours.
