First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Provide fresh air. If experiencing respiratory symptoms: Call a doctor.

Skin contact

Rinse immediately contaminated clothing and skin with plenty of water before removing clothes. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap.

Symptoms: corrosive injuries

Eye contact

IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Consult an ophthalmologist.

Symptoms: Causes serious eye damage.

Ingestion

Do NOT induce vomiting. Rinse mouth immediately and drink 1 glass of of water. Call a physician immediately. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person or a person with cramps.

Symptoms: If swallowed danger of perforation of the esophagus and the stomach (strong corrosive effects).

Immediate Medical Attention

Immediate medical treatment required because corrosive injuries that are not treated are hard to cure. Call a physician immediately. Consult an ophthalmologist.

Handling

Do not breathe dust/fume/gas/mist/vapours/spray. Use personal protective equipment as required. Always close containers tightly after the removal of product. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. When diluting/dissolving, always have the water ready first, then slowly stir in the product.

Ensure adequate ventilation of the storage area.

Hygiene

When using do not eat, drink, smoke, sniff. Wash hands and face before breaks and after work and take a shower if necessary. Apply skin care products after work. Wash contaminated clothing prior to re-use. Only wear fitting, comfortable and clean protective clothing.

Engineering

Technical measures and the use of suitable work processes have priority over the use of personal protective equipment. Provide adequate ventilation as well as local exhaustion at critical locations.
