First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Take victim to fresh air. Obtain medical attention if breathing difficulty persists.

Symptoms: Sore throat. Corrosive to respiratory system.

Skin contact

Wash skin thoroughly with mild soap and water. Seek medical attention immediately.

Symptoms: Redness, pain. Causes burns. Repeated exposure to this material can result in absorption through skin causing significant health hazard.

Eye contact

In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

Symptoms: Blurred vision. Redness, pain. Burning sensation.

Ingestion

Rinse mouth. Do not induce vomiting because of corrosive effects. Call a physician immediately.

Symptoms: Harmful if swallowed. Abdominal pain, nausea. Burning sensation. Must not come into contact with food or be consumed.

Immediate Medical Attention

Seek medical attention immediately (skin), seek medical advice (eyes), call a physician immediately (ingestion).

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Avoid all unnecessary exposure. Store and handle as though always a serious potential fire/explosion and health hazard exists. Keep away from sources of ignition - No Smoking. Handle in accordance with appropriate industrial hygiene and safety procedures. Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs.

Storage

Store in dry, cool, well-ventilated area. Keep container closed when not in use. Keep away from heat. Do not store in corrodable metal.

Hygiene

Wash hands and other exposed areas with mild soap and water before eat, drink or smoke and when leaving work.

Fire prevention

Keep away from sources of ignition - No Smoking. Keep away from heat.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Provide local exhaust or general room ventilation to minimize dust and/or vapour concentrations.

Hands

Gloves. The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it. In full: Material: nitrile rubber. Minimum thickness: 0.56 mm. Break through time: Not tested. Proposed equipment : SOL-VEX® (Ansell 37-185). In the event of splashes: Material: nitrile rubber. Minimum thickness: 0.10 mm. Break through time: Not tested. Proposed equipment : Touch N Tuff® (Ansell 92-500 ou 92-670).

Eyes

Safety glasses. Use equipment for eye protection tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or EN 166(EU).

Respiratory

Suitable respiratory equipment. Use a full-face cartridge combination (U.S.) or type ABEK (EN 14387). Use respirators and components tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or CEN (EU).

Skin/Body

Wear proper protective equipment. Choose body protection in relation to the dangerousness of the product, its concentration and the amounts used depending on the workstation.
