04

First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Supply fresh air. If required, provide artificial respiration. Keep patient warm. Consult doctor if symptoms persist. In case of unconsciousness place patient stably in side position for transportation. In case of inhalation of aerosols remove the casualty into fresh air and seek medical advice.

Skin contact

Immediately wash with water and soap and rinse thoroughly. If skin irritation continues, consult a doctor.

Eye contact

Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water.

Ingestion

Do not induce vomiting; call for medical help immediately.

Symptoms: If swallowed or in the event of vomiting may cause aspiration into the lungs which can be fatal.

Immediate Medical Attention

call for medical help immediately

Medical Treatment

If swallowed or in the event of vomiting may cause aspiration into the lungs which can be fatal.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide, water spray jet

Unsuitable media

Water with full jet

Specific hazards

Fire gas of organic material has to be classed invariably as respiratory poison. Vapours are heavier than air and spread on ground. Product possibly swims up on surface and reinflames.

Instructions

Cool endangered receptacles with water spray.

Firefighter Protection

Wear self-contained respiratory protective device. Wear fully protective suit.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Wear protective equipment. Keep unprotected persons away.

Environmental

Do not allow to enter sewers/ surface or ground water. Do not allow to penetrate the ground/soil.

Cleanup methods

Absorb with liquid-binding material

Materials: sand, diatomite, acid binders, universal binders, sawdust

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Ensure good ventilation/exhaustion at the workplace. Prevent formation of aerosols. Use solvent-proof equipment. Use only in well ventilated areas. Ensure good interior ventilation, especially at floor level. (Fumes are heavier than air). Tightly reclose container after each use. Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

Storage

Store in a cool location. Store in cool, dry conditions in well sealed receptacles. Store receptacle in a well ventilated area.

Hygiene

Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

Fire prevention

Keep ignition sources away - Do not smoke. Protect against electrostatic charges.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Hands

The glove material has to be impermeable and resistant to the product/ the substance/ the preparation. Selection of the glove material on consideration of the penetration times, rates of diffusion and the degradation. Solvent resistant gloves. Material of gloves: The selection of the suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of quality and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. As the product is a preparation of several substances, the resistance of the glove material can not be calculated in advance and has therefore to be checked prior to the application. Recommended thickness of the material: >= 0,7 mm. Permeation time >= 480 minutes. Nitrile rubber, NBR. Penetration time of glove material: The exact break through time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be observed.

Eyes

Tightly sealed goggles

Respiratory

Use suitable respiratory protective device in case of insufficient ventilation. Breathing apparatus in the event of aerosol or mist formation. In case of brief exposure or low pollution use respiratory filter device. In case of intensive or longer exposure use self-contained respiratory protective device. Gas filter type A (organic gases and vapours).

Skin/Body

Protective work clothing
