Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Extinguishing powder, foam or water jet. Fight larger fires with water jet or alcohol-resistant foam.

Unsuitable media

Water with a full water jet.

Specific hazards

Inhalation of combustion gases may cause serious health hazards. Formation of flammable mixtures of vapours with air possible.

Instructions

Remove goods in stock from incendiary zone, if possible.

Firefighter Protection

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Avoid contact with the product. Ensure adequate ventilation. Particular danger of slipping on leaked/spilled product.

Environmental

Prevent from spreading (e.g. by damming-in or oil barriers). Do not allow to enter drainage system, surface or ground water.

Cleanup methods

Absorb with liquid-binding material (sand, diatomite, acid binders, universal binders). Complete cleaning with water.

Materials: sand, diatomite, acid binders, universal binders

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Prevent formation of aerosols. Keep containers tightly sealed. Don't eat, drink or smoke while working. Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

Storage

Store only in the original container. Keep container tightly sealed. Store container in a well ventilated position. Store under dry conditions.

Hygiene

Don't eat, drink or smoke while working.

Fire prevention

The product forms flammable fumes when heated.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Hands

Use gloves of stable material (i.e. nitril rubber). Material of gloves: The selection of the suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of quality and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. As the product is a preparation of several substances, the resistance of the glove material can not be calculated in advance and has therefore to be checked prior to the application. Chloroprene rubber, CR, Nitrile rubber, NBR. Recommended thickness of the material: 0.4 mm. Penetration time of glove material: The exact break through time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be observed.

Eyes

Tightly sealed safety glasses.

Respiratory

Not necessary if room is well-ventilated. Use breathing protection only when aerosol or mist is formed. Filter A/P2.
