First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove victim immediately from source of exposure. Provide rest, warmth and fresh air.

Skin contact

Immediately flush contaminated skin with soap or mild detergent and water. Immediately remove soaked clothing and flush the skin with water. Use appropriate hand lotion to prevent degreasing and cracking of skin.

Eye contact

Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water while holding eye lids open. Remove any contact lenses and continue rinsing with water for at least 15 minutes (keep the eyelids open).

Ingestion

If vomiting occurs, keep head low so that stomach contents do not enter lungs. Thoroughly rinse the mouth with water. Drink a few glasses of water or milk.

Immediate Medical Attention

Seek medical advice if symptoms develop (inhalation), if irritation persists (skin/eye), or generally after ingestion.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

carbon dioxide, powder, alcohol-resistant foam, water spray or water mist.

Unsuitable media

Do not use a direct water stream which may spread the fire.

Specific hazards

Not flammable, but combustible. Carbon oxides and metal oxides are emitted in a fire.

Instructions

Use water to cool exposed containers. Remove containers from fire area if this can be done without risk. If possible, fight the fire from a protected location.

Firefighter Protection

Evacuate all personnel, use protective equipment for fire fighting. Use a portable breathing apparatus when the product is involved in a fire.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Environmental

Must not be released into the sewage system, drinking water supply or ground.

Cleanup methods

Dry, scrape or absorb the product with inert material and place it in a refuse container

Materials: inert material

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Avoid contact with the skin and eyes. Wear necessary protective equipment. Keep away from sources of ignition. Protect from direct sunlight.

Storage

Keep in a dry, cool and well-ventilated area. Keep containers tightly closed.

Fire prevention

Keep away from sources of ignition.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Provide good ventilation.

Hands

Protective gloves (nitrile rubber, Viton[®] ).

Eyes

Wear approved safety goggles if there is a risk of eye splash.

Respiratory

Respiratory protective equipment is usually not necessary. In case of insufficient ventilation, wear respiratory protective equipment with A/P2 filter.

Skin/Body

Wear suitable protective clothing.
