First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove victim to fresh air. If breathing is difficult or irritation persists, get medical attention.

Symptoms: Inhalation of dust may cause irritation of the mucous membranes and upper respiratory tract.

Skin contact

Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Flush skin thoroughly with water for several minutes. Get medical attention if irritation or rash occurs. Launder clothing before re-use.

Symptoms: Skin irritation. May cause skin sensitization.

Eye contact

Rinse thoroughly with water. Get medical attention if irritation occurs and persists.

Symptoms: Contact with dust may cause mechanical eye irritation.

Ingestion

Rinse mouth with water. Do not induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel. Do not attempt to give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical attention if symptoms develop.

Immediate Medical Attention

Immediate medical attention is not required.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Use any media appropriate for the surrounding fire.

Specific hazards

Combustion may produce oxides of carbon and metal oxides.

Instructions

Cool fire exposed containers with water.

Firefighter Protection

Firefighters should wear positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing for fires in areas where chemicals are used or stored.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Avoid breathing dust. Powders that become wet may cause surfaces to be extremely slippery and present a slip hazard.

Environmental

Report spill as required by local and federal regulations.

Cleanup methods

Scoop or shovel up using methods that minimize the generation of airborne dust. Wipe spill area with a damp cloth.
