First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Move to a dust free area, drink water and blow nose.

Symptoms: Irritation of nose and throat.

Skin contact

If this occurs, rinse affected areas with water and wash gently. Do not rub or scratch exposed skin.

Symptoms: mild mechanical temporary skin irritation

Eye contact

In case of eye contact flush abundantly with water. Do not rub eyes.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Use extinguishing agent suitable for surrounding combustible materials.

Specific hazards

Packaging and surrounding materials may be combustible

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Restore the situation to normal as quickly as possible.

Environmental

Do not flush spillage to drain and prevent from entering natural watercourses. Check for local regulations, which may apply.

Cleanup methods

If brushing is used, ensure that the area is wetted down first.

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Use appropriate gloves and safety glasses for basic substances. The process or processes should be designed to limit the amount of handling.

Storage

Store in original packaging in a dry area. Always use sealed and clearly labelled containers. Avoid damaging containers.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Review your applications in order to identify potential sources of dust exposure. If necessary, conduct personal air monitoring. Use technical and/or organisational means to comply with regulations. In case of higher concentrations or where the concentration is not known, please seek advice from your company and/or local Thermal Ceramics' supplier. Identify and use operating procedures, which will limit dust production and exposure of workers. If necessary consult an industrial hygienist to design proper workplace controls.

Hands

Use of gloves and work clothes is recommended.

Eyes

As necessary wear goggles or safety glasses with side shields.

Respiratory

For dust concentrations below the exposure limit value, RPE is not required but FFP2 respirators may be used on a voluntary basis. For short-term operations where excursions are less than ten times the limit value use FFP3 respirators. In case of higher concentrations or where the concentration is not known, please seek advice from your company and/or local Thermal Ceramics' supplier.

Skin/Body

Use of gloves and work clothes is recommended. Soiled clothes should be cleaned before being taken off (e.g. use vacuum cleaning, not compressed air).

Environmental

Refer to local, national or European applicable environmental standards for release to air, water and soil. For waste, refer to Section 13.
