First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove affected person from source of contamination. Move affected person to fresh air and keep warm and at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

Skin contact

Remove contaminated clothing immediately and wash skin with soap and water. Get medical attention.

Symptoms: Causes severe burns.

Eye contact

Rinse immediately with plenty of water. Remove any contact lenses and open eyelids wide apart. Continue to rinse for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention immediately. Continue to rinse.

Symptoms: Causes serious eye damage. May cause permanent damage if eye is not immediately irrigated.

Ingestion

Rinse nose and mouth with water. Do not induce vomiting. If vomiting occurs, the head should be kept low so that stomach vomit doesn't enter the lungs. Give plenty of water to drink. Get medical attention immediately.

Symptoms: May cause chemical burns in mouth, oesophagus and stomach.

Handling

Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Wash after use and before eating, smoking and using the toilet. Remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment before entering eating areas. Take off immediately all contaminated clothing and wash it before reuse.

Engineering

Provide adequate ventilation. Observe any occupational exposure limits for the product or ingredients.

Hands

To protect hands from chemicals, gloves should comply with European Standard EN374. Chemical-resistant, impervious gloves complying with an approved standard should be worn if a risk assessment indicates skin contact is possible. The most suitable glove should be chosen in consultation with the glove supplier/manufacturer, who can provide information about the breakthrough time of the glove material. Nitrile rubber. (0.65 mm) Chloroprene rubber. (0.65 mm) Butyl rubber. Protective gloves should have a minimum thickness of > 0.5 mm. Viton rubber (fluoro rubber). Protective gloves should have a minimum thickness of > 0.5 mm. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Protective gloves should have a minimum thickness of > 0.5 mm. The selected gloves should have a breakthrough time of at least 8 hours.

If ventilation is inadequate, suitable respiratory protection must be worn. EN 136/140/141/145/143/149

Skin/Body

Wear appropriate clothing to prevent any possibility of liquid contact and repeated or prolonged vapour contact.
