First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Move to fresh air. If breathing stops: mouth-to-mouth breathing or artificial respiration. Oxygen if necessary.

Symptoms: Cough, Shortness of breath, Dizziness, drowsiness, confusion

Skin contact

Wash off with plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothing.

Symptoms: Dermatitis

Eye contact

Rinse out with plenty of water with the eyelid held wide open. Call in ophthalmologist if necessary.

Symptoms: irritant effects

Ingestion

Caution if victim vomits. Keep airways free. Call a physician immediately.

Symptoms: Risk of aspiration! Pulmonary failure possible after aspiration of vomit.

Immediate Medical Attention

Immediately call in physician.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Carbon dioxide (CO2), Foam, Dry powder

Unsuitable media

For this substance/mixture no limitations of extinguishing agents are given.

Specific hazards

Combustible. Vapours are heavier than air and may spread along floors. Pay attention to flashback. Forms explosive mixtures with air at elevated temperatures. Development of hazardous combustion gases or vapours possible in the event of fire.

Instructions

Remove container from danger zone and cool with water.

Firefighter Protection

Stay in danger area only with self-contained breathing apparatus. Prevent skin contact by keeping a safe distance or by wearing suitable protective clothing.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Do not breathe vapours, aerosols. Avoid substance contact. Ensure adequate ventilation. Keep away from heat and sources of ignition. Evacuate the danger area, observe emergency procedures, consult an expert.

Environmental

Do not let product enter drains. Risk of explosion.

Cleanup methods

Take up with liquid-absorbent material (e.g. Chemizorb®). Dispose of properly. Clean up affected area.

Materials: liquid-absorbent material (e.g. Chemizorb®)

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Work under hood. Do not inhale substance/mixture. Avoid generation of vapours/aerosols. Observe label precautions.

Storage

Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Keep away from heat and sources of ignition. Recommended storage temperature see product label.

Hygiene

Immediately change contaminated clothing. Apply preventive skin protection. Wash hands and face after working with substance.

Fire prevention

Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition. Take precautionary measures against static discharge.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Technical measures and appropriate working operations should be given priority over the use of personal protective equipment. See section 7.1.

Hands

full contact: Glove material: Nitrile rubber, Glove thickness: 0,40 mm, Break through time: > 480 min; splash contact: Glove material: Nitrile rubber, Glove thickness: 0,11 mm, Break through time: > 30 min. The protective gloves to be used must comply with the specifications of EC Directive 89/686/EEC and the related standard EN374, for example KCL 730 Camatril® -Velours (full contact), KCL 741 Dermatril® L (splash contact). The breakthrough times stated above were determined by KCL in laboratory tests acc. to EN374 with samples of the recommended glove types.

Eyes

Safety glasses

Respiratory

required when vapours/aerosols are generated. Recommended Filter type: Filter A (acc. to DIN 3181) for vapours of organic compounds. The entrepreneur has to ensure that maintenance, cleaning and testing of respiratory protective devices are carried out according to the instructions of the producer. These measures have to be properly documented.

Skin/Body

Flame retardant antistatic protective clothing

Environmental

Do not let product enter drains. Risk of explosion.
