First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, administer artificial respiration. Contact physician.

Symptoms: High vapor concentrations may irritate respiratory tract and possibly cause dizziness and drowsiness. Irritation to mucous membranes.

Skin contact

Wash skin with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. Consult physician.

Symptoms: Direct contact will cause severe irritation to skin.

Eye contact

Flush eyes for at least 30 minutes with large amounts of water. Consult physician.

Symptoms: Direct contact will cause severe irritation to eyes. May cause burns to eyes. High vapor concentrations may irritate eyes.

Ingestion

If conscious, do not induce vomiting; drink milk, water or vinegar. Contact physician immediately.

Immediate Medical Attention

Contact physician.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptoms.

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Carbon dioxide, dry chemical, foam or water fog

Unsuitable media

No information available

Specific hazards

May generate: ammonia gas, toxic nitrogen oxide gases, Carbon monoxide. Use of water may result in the formation of very toxic aqueous solutions.

Instructions

Cool exposed containers with water.

Firefighter Protection

Recommend Firefighters wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Utilize exposure controls and personal protection as specified in Section 8.

Small spill

Cover minor spills with Sodium Bisulfite to neutralize and reduce vapors.

Environmental

No special requirements.

Cleanup methods

Scoop up and transfer to a suitable container for disposal.

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. Contaminated leather including shoes cannot be decontaminated and should be discarded. Utilize exposure controls and personal protection as specified in Section 8.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area.

Hygiene

Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse. Contaminated leather including shoes cannot be decontaminated and should be discarded.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Provide sufficient ventilation to keep the vapor concentrations below the exposure limits. If necessary, provide local exhaust.

Hands

Chemical resistant gloves (e.g., butyl rubber or PVC)

Eyes

Safety goggles.

Respiratory

Not normally needed. If exposure limits are exceeded, use a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), supplied air respirator (SAR) or air-purifying respirator (APR) with a suitable filter (e.g., EN filter type A-P2).

Skin/Body

Impervious clothing as necessary to prevent skin contact.

Environmental

Refer to sections 6 and 12.
