First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove exposed person to fresh air if adverse effects are observed.

Skin contact

Take off contaminated clothing and wash before re-use. Wash skin thoroughly with soap and water. Wash with soap and water. If skin irritation or rash occurs: Get medical attention. If skin irritation occurs, get medical attention. Get medical attention if symptoms occur. Launder contaminated clothing before reuse.

Eye contact

Flush thoroughly with water. If irritation occurs, get medical assistance. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.

Ingestion

Rinse mouth. Get medical attention if symptoms occur.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

CO2, Dry chemical or Foam. Water can be used to cool and protect exposed material.

Unsuitable media

Do not use water jet as an extinguisher, as this will spread the fire.

Specific hazards

A solid stream of water will spread the burning material. Material creates a special hazard because it floats on water. See section 10 for additional information.

Instructions

No data available.

Firefighter Protection

Wear full protective firegear including self-containing breathing apparatus operated in the positive pressure mode with full facepiece, coat, pants, gloves and boots.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Do not touch damaged containers or spilled material unless wearing appropriate protective clothing. Keep unauthorized personnel away. See Section 8 of the SDS for Personal Protective Equipment.

Large spill

Dike far ahead of larger spill for later recovery and disposal.

Environmental

Avoid release to the environment. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.

Cleanup methods

Pick up free liquid for recycle and/or disposal. Residual liquid can be absorbed on inert material.

Materials: inert material

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Avoid breathing dust/fume/gas/mist/vapors/spray. Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Observe good industrial hygiene practices. Provide adequate ventilation. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace. Launder contaminated clothing before reuse. Avoid environmental contamination. Avoid inhalation of vapors upon opening container. Keep container closed when not in use and use with adequate ventilation. Material can accumulate static charges which may cause an electrical spark (ignition source). Use proper bonding and/or grounding procedures. Use grounding and bonding connection when transferring material. In case of spills, beware of slippery floors and surfaces.

Storage

Store away from incompatible materials. See section 10 for incompatible materials. Odorous and toxic fumes may form from the decomposition of this product. Do not store product at temperature in excess of 45°C (113°F) for extended periods of time, 1 week or more; or, using a heat source, such as steam, at a temperature in excess of 100°C (212°F).

Hygiene

Observe good industrial hygiene practices. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace. Launder contaminated clothing before reuse.

Fire prevention

Material can accumulate static charges which may cause an electrical spark (ignition source). Use proper bonding and/or grounding procedures.

12.6 Endocrine disrupting properties:

This substance/mixture contains components considered to have endocrine disrupting properties for environment , according to REACH Article 57(f), Commission Regulation (EU) 2018/605 or Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2017/2100. Phenol, dodecyl-, branched: The substance is considered to have endocrine disrupting properties according to REACH Article 57(f) for the environment.

The substance is considered to have endocrine disrupting properties according to REACH Article 57(f) for the environment.

12.7 Other adverse effects

This material contains one or more components that have an impurity (alkylated phenol) that is highly toxic to aquatic organisms (Aquatic Acute 1 and Aquatic Chronic 1). The component containing the impurity (calcium phenate) was tested in fish, invertebrates and algae and the results showed that it may cause long lasting harmful effects to aquatic life (Aquatic Chronic 4). Therefore the classification shown in Section 3 for the alkylphenol impurity should not be used to classify the product for aquatic toxicity. Toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects. Harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects.

The product contains an impurity (alkylated phenol) that is highly toxic to aquatic organisms, but the component (calcium phenate) itself is classified as Aquatic Chronic 4. The product is classified as toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects.
