First Aid Measures
Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents
Remove exposed person to fresh air if adverse effects are observed.
Wash with soap and water. Launder contaminated clothing before reuse.
Any material that contacts the eye should be washed out immediately with water. If easy to do, remove contact lenses.
Treat symptomatically.
Immediate Medical Attention
Get medical attention if symptoms occur (skin contact) or get medical attention (ingestion).
Medical Treatment
Treat symptomatically.
Firefighting Measures
Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection
CO2, Dry chemical or Foam. Water can be used to cool and protect exposed material.
Do not use water jet as an extinguisher, as this will spread the fire.
When heated, hazardous gases may be released including: sulfur dioxide. Material creates a special hazard because it floats on water. Water may cause splattering.
No data available.
Firefighter Protection
Wear full protective firegear including self-containing breathing apparatus operated in the positive pressure mode with full facepiece, coat, pants, gloves and boots.
Accidental Release Measures
Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection
Personal Protective Equipment must be worn, see Personal Protection Section for PPE recommendations. Ventilate area if spilled in confined space or other poorly ventilated areas.
Dike far ahead of larger spill for later recovery and disposal.
Avoid release to the environment. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.
Pick up free liquid for recycle and/or disposal. Residual liquid can be absorbed on inert material.
Materials: inert material

Handling and Storage
Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements
Material can accumulate static charges which may cause an electrical spark (ignition source). Use proper bonding and/or grounding procedures. Use grounding and bonding connection when transferring material. In case of spills, beware of slippery floors and surfaces. Keep container closed when not in use and use with adequate ventilation. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Keep container closed when not in use.
Observe good industrial hygiene practices.

Exposure Controls / PPE
Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment
Material should be handled in enclosed vessels and equipment, in which case general (mechanical) room ventilation should be sufficient. Local exhaust ventilation should be used at points where dust, mist, vapors or gases can escape into the room air.
Use nitrile or neoprene gloves. Use good industrial hygiene practices. In case of skin contact, wash hands and arms with soap and water. Butyl rubber. Use caution when opening manway covers of storage and transportation containers. 3-nitroaniline crystals may be present on the interior surface of these openings. 3-nitroaniline is toxic by dermal exposure. For typical use and handling of chemical substances, gloves should meet the standards set out in EN 374. For applications involving mechanical risks with potential for abrasion or puncture, the standards set out in EN 388 should be considered. For continuous contact, we suggest gloves with a minimum breakthrough time of 240 minutes, or > 480 minutes if suitable gloves can be obtained. For general applications, we recommend gloves with a thickness typically greater than 0.35 mm.
If contact is likely, safety glasses with side shields are recommended. Eye protection should meet the standards set out in EN 166.
Use respirator with an organic vapor and dust/mist cartridge if the recommended exposure limit is exceeded. Consult with an industrial hygienist to determine the appropriate respiratory protection for your specific use of this material. A respiratory protection program compliant with all applicable regulations must be followed whenever workplace conditions require the use of a respirator. Use self-contained breathing apparatus for entry into confined space, for other poorly ventilated areas and for large spill clean-up sites. Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) is not normally required where there is adequate natural or local exhaust ventilation to control exposure. In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment.
In areas contaminated with 3-nitroaniline crystals, all workers involved in confined space clean-up operations should wear full body protection and air-supplied respirators. Long sleeve shirt is recommended.
