First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Move to fresh air. Consult a physician after significant exposure.

Skin contact

Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash off with soap and plenty of water. If symptoms persist, call a physician. In case of burns apply cold water until pain subsides then seek medical advice.

Eye contact

Flush eyes with water as a precaution. Remove contact lenses. Protect unharmed eye. Keep eye wide open while rinsing. If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist.

Ingestion

Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Obtain medical attention.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Use water fog, foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide (CO2) to extinguish flames

Specific hazards

Combustible.

Instructions

Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains. Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

Firefighter Protection

In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Avoid contact with spilled material. Do not touch or walk through spilled material.

Large spill

Dyke far ahead of liquid spill for later recovery and disposal.

Environmental

Prevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas. Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.

Cleanup methods

Recover by pumping or with suitable absorbent. Seek the advice of a specialist before using dispersants.

Materials: inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust)

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area. Dispose of rinse water in accordance with local and national regulations. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Ensure all equipment is electrically grounded before beginning transfer operations. Normal measures for preventive fire protection.

Storage

Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

Hygiene

Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area.

Fire prevention

Normal measures for preventive fire protection.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

No special requirements under ordinary conditions of use and with adequate ventilation.

Hands

Solvent-resistant gloves. Before removing gloves clean them with soap and water. Please observe the instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. Also take into consideration the specific local conditions under which the product is used, such as the danger of cuts, abrasion, and the contact time. When handling hot material, use heat resistant gloves. The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it.

Eyes

Eye wash bottle with pure water. Tightly fitting safety goggles.

Respiratory

In the case of vapour formation use a respirator with an approved filter.

Skin/Body

impervious clothing. Choose body protection according to the amount and concentration of the dangerous substance at the work place. Long sleeved clothing.

Environmental

Prevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas. Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.
