First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

If unconscious, place in recovery position and seek medical advice. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

Skin contact

Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash off with soap and plenty of water. If symptoms persist, call a physician. In case of burns apply cold water until pain subsides then seek medical advice.

Eye contact

Flush eyes with water as a precaution. Remove contact lenses. Protect unharmed eye. Keep eye wide open while rinsing. If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/ attention.

Ingestion

Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water. Do not give milk or alcoholic beverages. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Take victim immediately to hospital.

Immediate Medical Attention

Take victim immediately to hospital.

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Use water fog, foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide (CO2) to extinguish flames

Unsuitable media

High volume water jet

Specific hazards

Combustible.

Instructions

Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains. Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations. For safety reasons in case of fire, cans should be stored separately in closed containments. Use a water spray to cool fully closed containers.

Firefighter Protection

In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Exposure to decomposition products may be a hazard to health.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Ensure adequate ventilation. Use personal protective equipment. Material can create slippery conditions. Avoid contact with spilled material. Do not touch or walk through spilled material.

Large spill

Dyke far ahead of liquid spill for later recovery and disposal. Recover by pumping or with suitable absorbent

Environmental

Prevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Try to prevent the material from entering drains or water courses.

Cleanup methods

Recover by pumping or with suitable absorbent. Contain spillage, and then collect with non-combustible absorbent material and place in container for disposal. Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly while observing environmental regulations.

Materials: non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite)

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Avoid formation of aerosol. Avoid exposure - obtain special instructions before use. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. For personal protection see section 8. Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area. Do not spray on a naked flame or any incandescent material. Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition.

Storage

Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

Hygiene

Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area.

Fire prevention

Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Ensure all equipment is electrically grounded before beginning transfer operations. Do not spray on a naked flame or any incandescent material. Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition.
