First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

If inhaled and if breathing is difficult, remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing.

Symptoms: None under normal use.

Skin contact

Remove affected clothing and wash all exposed skin area with mild soap and water, followed by warm water rinse. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. If skin irritation or rash occurs: Get medical advice/attention.

Symptoms: No significant signs or symptoms indicative of any health hazard are expected to occur as a result of skin contact.

Eye contact

Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/attention.

Symptoms: Causes serious eye irritation.

Ingestion

Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. If symptoms persist, contact a doctor or physician.

Symptoms: No significant signs or symptoms indicative of any adverse health hazard are expected to occur as a result of ingestion.

Medical Treatment

All treatments should be based on observed signs and symptoms of distress in the patient.

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Foam. Dry powder. Carbon dioxide. Water spray. Sand.

Unsuitable media

Do not use a heavy water stream.

Specific hazards

No specific fire or explosion hazard.

Instructions

Use extinguishing media appropriate for surrounding fire. Exercise caution when fighting any chemical fire. Avoid (reject) fire-fighting water to enter environment.

Firefighter Protection

Do not enter fire area without proper protective equipment, including respiratory protection. Use self-contained breathing apparatus. EN 469.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Evacuate unnecessary personnel. Ventilate area.

Environmental

Prevent entry to sewers and public waters.

Cleanup methods

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Wash hands and other exposed areas with mild soap and water before eating, drinking or smoking and when leaving work. Provide good ventilation in process area to prevent formation of vapour. Obtain special instructions before use. Do not handle until all safety precautions have been read and understood. In case of leaking gas fire, eliminate all ignition sources if safe to do so.

Storage

Keep only in the original container in a cool well ventilated place. Keep container closed when not in use.

Hygiene

Wash hands thoroughly after handling. Contaminated work clothing should not be allowed out of the workplace. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.

Fire prevention

In case of leaking gas fire, eliminate all ignition sources if safe to do so.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Avoid creating mist or spray. Avoid splashing.

Hands

Wear suitable gloves. nitrile rubber gloves. EN 374.

Eyes

Chemical goggles or safety glasses. EN 166.

Respiratory

Use an approved respirator equipped with oil/mist cartridges. Where exposure through inhalation may occur from use, respiratory protection equipment is recommended. EN 12083.

Skin/Body

Wear suitable protective clothing. Impervious clothing. EN702.
