First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Provide fresh air. In case of respiratory tract irritation, consult a physician.

Symptoms: Dizziness

Skin contact

After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. Remove/Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. In case of skin irritation, consult a physician.

Eye contact

After contact with the eyes, rinse with water with the eyelids open for a sufficient length of time, then consult an ophthalmologist immediately. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.

Symptoms: Serious eye damage/eye irritation

Ingestion

If accidentally swallowed rinse the mouth with plenty of water (only if the person is conscious) and obtain immediate medical attention. Let water be drunken in little sips (dilution effect). Get medical advice/attention if you feel unwell.

Immediate Medical Attention

Obtain immediate medical attention if accidentally swallowed. Consult an ophthalmologist immediately after eye contact.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Dry extinguishing powder, alcohol resistant foam, Carbon dioxide (CO2), Extinguishing powder

Unsuitable media

Water spray jet, Full water jet

Specific hazards

Highly flammable liquid and vapour (H225). Combustible

Instructions

Use caution when applying carbon dioxide in confined spaces. Carbon dioxide can displace oxygen.

Firefighter Protection

Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical protective clothing.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Remove persons to safety. Remove all sources of ignition. Provide adequate ventilation.

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product. Wear personal protection equipment (refer to section 8). Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes.

Storage

Store in a place accessible by authorized persons only. Keep only in the original container in a cool, well-ventilated place.

Hygiene

Remove contaminated, saturated clothing immediately. Provide eye shower and label its location conspicuously. Thorough skin-cleansing after handling the product.

Fire prevention

Vapours are heavier than air, spread along floors and form explosive mixtures with air. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Keep away from sources of heat (e.g. hot surfaces), sparks and open flames. Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Provide adequate ventilation as well as local exhaustion at critical locations.

Hands

When handling with chemical substances, protective gloves must be worn with the CE-label including the four control digits. The quality of the protective gloves resistant to chemicals must be chosen as a function of the specific working place concentration and quantity of hazardous substances. Recommended glove articles KCL - Butyl 898. Thickness of the glove material >0,5mm. Breakthrough time: >480min. For special purposes, it is recommended to check the resistance to chemicals of the protective gloves mentioned above together with the supplier of these gloves. Check leak tightness/impermeability prior to use. Tested protective gloves must be worn EN ISO 374. In the case of wanting to use the gloves again, clean them before taking off and air them well. Breakthrough times and swelling properties of the material must be taken into consideration.

Eyes

Eye glasses with side protection EN 166

Respiratory

Respiratory protection necessary at: exceeding exposure limit values. Self-contained respirator (breathing apparatus). Filtering device with filter or ventilator filtering device of type: AX

Skin/Body

Chemical resistant safety shoes. Before starting work, apply solvent-resistant skincare preparations.

Environmental

Avoid release to the environment. Refer to special instructions/Safety data sheets.
