First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove victim to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. When there is no quick recovery : consult a doctor/medical service.

Symptoms: Dizziness. Nausea. Headache. Unconsciousness.

Skin contact

Rinse with water. Wash with water and soap. Take victim to a doctor if irritation persists.

Symptoms: Repeated or prolonged skin contact may cause dermatitis and defatting.

Eye contact

Rinse immediately with plenty of water. Take victim to an ophthalmologist if irritation persists.

Symptoms: Irritating to eyes. Pain. Redness of the eye tissue.

Ingestion

In all cases of doubt, or when symptoms persist, seek medical attention. Do not induce vomiting.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Dry powder. Carbon dioxide. Water haze. Carbon dioxide. Powder. Foam. Sand. sand/earth.

Unsuitable media

Do not use a high volume water jet.

Specific hazards

May form flammable en explosive vapour-air mixture. Possible ignition from a distance. Will float and can be reignited on water surface. Explosion hazard: Atex klasse IIA, T3.

Instructions

Eliminate all ignition sources if safe to do so. Use water spray or fog for cooling exposed containers. Exercise caution when fighting any chemical fire.

Firefighter Protection

Do not enter fire area without proper protective equipment, including respiratory protection.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Ensure adequate air ventilation. When handling product, avoid contact with skin and eyes. No naked flames or sparks. In order to rule out potential electrostatic discharge production, the system must be adequately grounded. Do not inhale vapour. Stop engines and no smoking. Shut off leaks if without risks. Evacuate unnecessary personnel. Ventilate area. Stop leak if safe to do so. Stop release.

Small spill

take up in non-combustible absorbent material and shovel into container for disposal.

Environmental

Substance must not be discharged into the sewer.

Cleanup methods

Wash down leftovers with plenty of water.

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Obtain special instructions before use. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Vapours are heavier than air and may travel considerable distance to an ignition source and flash back to source of vapours. No naked flames, sparks, and do not smoke. Do not handle until all safety precautions have been read and understood. Keep away from ignition sources (including static discharges). Provide good ventilation in process area to prevent formation of vapour. Take precautionary measures against static discharge.

Storage

Store in original container. Keep container tightly closed. Keep in a cool, well-ventilated place.

Hygiene

Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product.

Fire prevention

Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. No smoking. Keep away from ignition sources (including static discharges). Take precautionary measures against static discharge.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Ensure adequate ventilation. Wear suitable respiratory equipment in case of insufficient ventilation.

Hands

Chemical resistant gloves (according to European standard EN 374 or equivalent)

Eyes

Safety glasses

Respiratory

Ensure adequate ventilation. If local exhaustion is insufficient, wear full-face mask.

Skin/Body

Standard working clothes. Materials for protective clothing: synthetic material. latex. polyethylene/ethylenevinylalcohol. PVC. synthetic rubber

Environmental

See section 6,7, 12 en 13.
