First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove the patient to fresh air. See a physician* if necessary.

Symptoms: cough, fever, shivers (from thermal decomposition vapours)

Skin contact

Wash with water and soap. Remove contaminated clothing. If grease has penetrated skin by force (in case of misuse of a grease press): See a physician* immediately.

Eye contact

Flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. See a physician* if the eye irritation remains.

Ingestion

See a physician* if necessary. Do not induce vomiting.

Immediate Medical Attention

See a physician* immediately if grease has penetrated skin by force. See a physician* if necessary for other exposures.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

all (water, powder, foams, carbon dioxide)

Specific hazards

Turmotemp II/400 CL 2 is not inflammable. But in the case of fire, the vapour can involve toxic and corrosive compounds (carbon monoxide, fluorine decomposition compounds).

Firefighter Protection

Use self-contained breathing apparatus and skin protection to protect from vapours.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Pick up free grease for recycle or disposal. Absorb small amounts on inert material. Collect the released product and the used absorbent materials in suitable containers for disposal (see sect. 13).

Small spill

Absorb small amounts on inert material.

Environmental

Avoid the uncontrolled discharge in sewage systems, in surface and underground waters.

Cleanup methods

Pick up free grease for recycle or disposal. Collect the released product and the used absorbent materials in suitable containers for disposal (see sect. 13).

Materials: suitable containers

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

In case of misuse of a grease press highly pressed lubricants can penetrate the skin and may be dangerous for the human health. Avoid the contact of other heat materials above 290°C (> 555°F).

Storage

Store in cool and dry areas.

Hygiene

Do not eat, drink and smoke in working areas.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Hands

Not necessary in normal use. When often handling the product wear rubber gloves

Eyes

Not necessary in normal use. Wear safety glasses, if necessary.

Respiratory

Not necessary in normal use. Avoid breathing the vapours above the decomposition temperature.
