First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

[Remove casualty to fresh air and keep warm and at rest. If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial ] respiration.

Skin contact

[Remove contaminated, saturated clothing immediately. After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water ] and soap.

Eye contact

[In case of contact with eyes flush immediately with plenty of flowing water for 10 to 15 minutes holding eyelids apart ] and consult an ophthalmologist. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.

Ingestion

[If accidentally swallowed rinse the mouth with plenty of water (only if the person is conscious) and obtain immediate ] medical attention. Keep at rest. Do NOT induce vomiting.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

alcohol resistant foam Carbon dioxide (CO2) Extinguishing powder Water mist

Unsuitable media

Strong water jet

Specific hazards

Fire will produce dense black smoke. Exposure to decomposition products may cause a health hazard.

Instructions

Cool endangered containers with water in case of fire.

Firefighter Protection

Use suitable breathing apparatus.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Remove all sources of ignition. Do not inhale the vapour. See protective measures under point 7 and 8.

Environmental

Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains. In case of gas escape or of entry into waterways, soil or drains, inform the responsible authorities.

Cleanup methods

Clear spills immediately. Contain and collect spillage with non-combustible absorbent materials, e.g. sand, earth, vermiculite, diatomaceous earth and place in container for disposal according to local regulations (see section 13). Clean with detergents. Avoid solvent cleaners.

Materials: non-combustible absorbent materials, e.g. sand, earth, vermiculite, diatomaceous earth; detergents

Related Substances

Similar chemicals with comparable safety profiles

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes. Do not breathe gas/vapour/aerosol. Never use pressure to empty container. Comply with the health and safety at work laws. See chapter 8 of the safety data sheet (Personal protection equipment).

Storage

Keep container tightly closed and in a well-ventilated place. Store between +5 and 35 °C in a dry, well ventilated place away from sources of heat and direct sunlight.

Hygiene

When using do not eat, drink, smoke.

Fire prevention

Store away from sources of heat and direct sunlight. When using do not smoke.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Provide for sufficient ventilation. This can be achieved by local exhaust or general exhaust air collection. Wear a suitable respirator if the ventilation is not sufficient to keep the solvent vapour concentration below the occupational limit values.

Hands

Use protective gloves. Suitable material : NBR (Nitrile rubber) Required properties : EN ISO 374 Breakthrough time : 480 min Thickness of the glove material : ±0.1 / 0.4 mm Additional hand protection measures : Check protective gloves before each use concerning their normal condition. Use skin cleaning and skin care products after using the gloves.

Eyes

Use tightly fitting safety glasses.

Respiratory

By spraying: air fed respirator. By other operations than spraying: in well ventilated areas, airfed respirators could be replaced by a combination of charcoal filter and particulate filter mask.

Skin/Body

Body protection: not required.

Environmental

Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains.
