First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

IF INHALED: Remove to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen.

Skin contact

Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water. If a person feels unwell or symptoms of skin irritation appear, consult a physician.

Symptoms: May cause allergic skin reaction. Skin irritation. Redness. Swelling of tissue.

Eye contact

Rinse immediately carefully and thoroughly with eye-bath or water. If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist.

Symptoms: Risk of serious damage to eyes. Irritating to mucous membranes. Redness. Swelling of tissue.

Ingestion

If swallowed, seek medical advice immediately and show this SDS or label. Do not induce vomiting without medical advice. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Immediate Medical Attention

Get medical attention immediately if symptoms occur. If swallowed, seek medical advice immediately. Treat symptomatically.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Use water spray or fog; Alcohol resistant foam; Fire-extinguishing powder; Carbon dioxide; Dry sand

Unsuitable media

Do not use straight streams

Firefighter Protection

Wear self-contained respiratory protective device.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Keep people away from and upwind of spill/leak. Wear protective clothing. Ensure adequate ventilation.

Large spill

Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained.

Environmental

Do not allow to enter sewers/ surface or ground water.

Cleanup methods

Soak up with inert absorbent material. Sweep up and shovel into suitable containers for disposal. Clean contaminated surface thoroughly.

Materials: inert absorbent material

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Avoid breathing mists, dusts, or vapors. Wash hands thoroughly after handling.

Storage

Keep containers tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place. Keep product and empty container away from heat and sources of ignition.

Hygiene

Wash hands thoroughly after handling.

Fire prevention

No special measures required.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Hands

Protective gloves. The glove material has to be impermeable and resistant to the product/ the substance/ the preparation. Selection of the glove material on consideration of the penetration times, rates of diffusion and the degradation. Material of gloves: Neoprene gloves. The selection of the suitable gloves does not only depend on the material, but also on further marks of quality and varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Penetration time of glove material: The determined penetration times according to EN 16523-1:2015 are not performed under practical conditions. Therefore a maximum wearing time, which corresponds to 50% of the penetration time, is recommended.

Eyes

Tightly sealed goggles

Respiratory

In case of brief exposure or low pollution use respiratory filter device. In case of intensive or longer exposure use self-contained respiratory protective device.

Skin/Body

Slip proof shoes. Protective work clothing.

Stability and Reactivity

Chemical stability, hazardous reactions, and incompatible materials

Stability

The substance is stable if stored and handled properly. However, if stored at high temperature (above 50°C or between 40 and 50°C for a long period of time) or in contact with hot spots or if it enters in contact with small amount of strong acid, product may undergo acid hydrolysis and generate sulphuric acid. If this occurs, pH will drop drastically.

Reactivity

No further relevant information available.

Hazardous reactions

No dangerous reactions known.

Avoid

Temperatures in excess of 50 °C or below 0 °C.

Incompatible

Avoid contact with acids and with strong oxidising agents.

Decomposition

No decomposition at recommended handling temperature. However, in case of extreme hydrolysis (see here above), product may release a corrosive mixture containing sulphuric acid.
