First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

If unconscious, place in recovery position and seek medical advice. If symptoms persist, call a physician. If breathing has stopped, assist ventilation with a mechanical device. Do not use mouth-to-mouth resuscitation if exposure to hydrogen sulphide is suspected.

Skin contact

Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash off with soap and plenty of water. If symptoms persist, call a physician. In case of burns apply cold water until pain subsides then seek medical advice.

Eye contact

Flush eyes with water as a precaution. Remove contact lenses. Protect unharmed eye. Keep eye wide open while rinsing. If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/ attention.

Ingestion

Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water. Do not give milk or alcoholic beverages. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

Medical Treatment

Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance. The first aid procedure should be established in consultation with the doctor responsible for industrial medicine. If a person vomits when lying on his back, place him in the recovery position. Keep patient warm and at rest.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Use water fog, foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide (CO2) to extinguish flames

Unsuitable media

High volume water jet

Specific hazards

Not classified as flammable or combustible, but will combust if ignited.

Instructions

Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains. Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations. Fire-fighters should exercise extreme caution in enclosed spaces due to the possible presence of toxic decomposition and combustion products.

Firefighter Protection

In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Exposure to decomposition products may be a hazard to health. Self-contained full-face overpressure breathing apparatus should be used in enclosed spaces. Use standard body protective equipment.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Avoid contact with spilled material. Do not touch or walk through spilled material.

Small spill

Wipe up with absorbent material (e.g. cloth, fleece).

Large spill

Dyke far ahead of liquid spill for later recovery and disposal.

Environmental

Prevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas. Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Try to prevent the material from entering drains or water courses.

Cleanup methods

Recover by pumping or with suitable absorbent. Wipe up with absorbent material (e.g. cloth, fleece).

Materials: absorbent material (e.g. cloth, fleece)

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area. Dispose of rinse water in accordance with local and national regulations.

Storage

Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Store below 60°C.

Hygiene

Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area.

Fire prevention

Normal measures for preventive fire protection.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

See attached ES. No special requirements under ordinary conditions of use and with adequate ventilation. If decomposition is suspected, or if the product has been overheated, do not open the container, discontinue heating and secure the unit. Initiate emergency procedures, taking all necessary precautions to avoid exposure to noxious or flammable gases (e.g. hydrogen sulphide), such as evacuation of contaminated areas, and use of suitable respiratory protection.

Hands

Polyvinyl alcohol or nitrile- butyl-rubber gloves Before removing gloves clean them with soap and water. Please observe the instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. Also take into consideration the specific local conditions under which the product is used, such as the danger of cuts, abrasion, and the contact time. When handling hot material, use heat resistant gloves. The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of Regulation (EU) 2016/425 and the standard EN 374 derived from it.

Eyes

The applicable European standard can be found in EN 166. Eye wash bottle with pure water. Tightly fitting safety goggles. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location.

Respiratory

The applicable European standard can be found in EN 140, EN 137, EN 143, EN 14387.

Skin/Body

Impervious clothing. Choose body protection according to the amount and concentration of the dangerous substance at the work place. Long sleeved clothing. The applicable European standard can be found in EN 14605.

Environmental

See attached ES. Prevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas. Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained. Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Try to prevent the material from entering drains or water courses. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.
