First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Obtain medical attention immediately.

Skin contact

Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Carefully remove paste or solidified product. Wash skin immediately with 0,5 % acetic acid in water, and then with soap and water. If skin irritation persists, call a physician.

Symptoms: Skin irritation, if untreated may be prolonged and serious (eg necrosis). Causes skin irritation.

Eye contact

In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with 0.5% acetic acid in water for a few minutes, followed by rinsing with plenty of water for as long as possible. Eyelids should be held away from the eyeball to ensure thorough rinsing. Get medical attention immediately. Continue to rinse during transport. Remove contact lenses. Protect unharmed eye. Keep eye wide open while rinsing.

Symptoms: Causes serious eye damage.

Ingestion

Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water. Do NOT induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Symptoms: May be fatal if swallowed and enters airways.

Immediate Medical Attention

Immediate medical attention is required. Get medical attention immediately.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment.

Unsuitable media

High volume water jet

Specific hazards

Treat as oil fire. Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire.

Instructions

Water spray may be ineffective unless used by experienced firefighters.

Firefighter Protection

In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Only qualified personnel equipped with suitable protective equipment may intervene. Prevent unauthorised persons entering the zone.

Environmental

Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Discharge into the environment must be avoided.

Cleanup methods

Pick up and arrange disposal without creating dust.

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

For personal protection see section 8. Avoid formation of respirable particles. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area. Dispose of rinse water in accordance with local and national regulations.

Storage

Prevent unauthorized access. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Avoid elevated temperatures. No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

Hygiene

Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area.

Fire prevention

Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at places where dust is formed.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Provide eyewash station and safety shower. Keep solutions of 0.5% acetic acid in water close at hand.

Hands

Nitrile rubber; butyl-rubber

Eyes

Tightly fitting safety goggles

Respiratory

In the case of dust, vapour or aerosol formation use a respirator with an approved filter. Wear full face mask supplied with: Combination filter: ABEKP.

Skin/Body

Protective suit

Environmental

Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Discharge into the environment must be avoided.
