First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

If unconscious, place in recovery position and seek medical advice. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

Skin contact

Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash off with soap and plenty of water. If symptoms persist, call a physician. In case of burns apply cold water until pain subsides then seek medical advice.

Eye contact

Flush eyes with water as a precaution. Remove contact lenses. Protect unharmed eye. Keep eye wide open while rinsing. If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/ attention.

Ingestion

Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water. Do not give milk or alcoholic beverages. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Take victim immediately to hospital.

Immediate Medical Attention

Take victim immediately to hospital.

Medical Treatment

Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance. The first aid procedure should be established in consultation with the doctor responsible for industrial medicine. If a person vomits when lying on his back, place him in the recovery position. Keep patient warm and at rest.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Use water fog, foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide (CO2) to extinguish flames

Unsuitable media

High volume water jet

Specific hazards

Not classified as flammable or combustible, but will combust if ignited.

Instructions

Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains. Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

Firefighter Protection

In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Exposure to decomposition products may be a hazard to health.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Ensure adequate ventilation. Use personal protective equipment. Material can create slippery conditions. Avoid contact with spilled material. Do not touch or walk through spilled material.

Large spill

Large Spills: Dyke far ahead of liquid spill for later recovery and disposal. Recover by pumping or with suitable absorbent. Material will float on water, use containment booms as a barrier to protect shorelines.

Environmental

No Exposure Scenario annex is attached to this safety data sheet. It is a non-classified mixture containing hazardous substances as detailed in Section 3; relevant information from Exposure Scenarios for the hazardous substances contained have been integrated into the core sections 1-16 of this SDS. Prevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas. Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained. Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Try to prevent the material from entering drains or water courses. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.

Cleanup methods

Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Recover by pumping or with suitable absorbent. Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust). Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal. Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly while observing environmental regulations.

Materials: inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust)

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Avoid exposure - obtain special instructions before use. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. For personal protection see section 8. Products may load from Infineum manufacturing site above the standard loading/unloading range.

Storage

Nitrogen blanketing of containers is required. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Observe label precautions. No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

Hygiene

Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area.

Fire prevention

Normal measures for preventive fire protection.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

No Exposure Scenario annex is attached to this safety data sheet. It is a non-classified mixture containing hazardous substances as detailed in Section 3; relevant information from Exposure Scenarios for the hazardous substances contained have been integrated into the core sections 1-16 of this SDS. No special requirements under ordinary conditions of use and with adequate ventilation.

Hands

Polyvinyl alcohol or nitrile- butyl-rubber gloves Before removing gloves clean them with soap and water. Please observe the instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. Also take into consideration the specific local conditions under which the product is used, such as the danger of cuts, abrasion, and the contact time. When handling hot material, use heat resistant gloves. The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it.

Eyes

Eye wash bottle with pure water Tightly fitting safety goggles Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location. The applicable European standard can be found in EN 166.

Respiratory

In the case of vapour formation use a respirator with an approved filter. The applicable European standard can be found in EN 140, EN 137, EN 143, EN 14387.

Skin/Body

Impervious clothing Choose body protection according to the amount and concentration of the dangerous substance at the work place. Long sleeved clothing The applicable European standard can be found in EN 14605.
