First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Move to fresh air in case of accidental inhalation of vapours. If symptoms persist, call a doctor.

Skin contact

Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water. Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 20 minutes. If skin irritation persists, call a doctor.

Symptoms: May cause an allergic skin reaction.

Eye contact

Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Keep eye wide open while rinsing. Remove contact lenses. If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist. Do not rub.

Ingestion

Rinse mouth. Drink plenty of water. Do NOT induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Consult a physician.

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Carbon dioxide (CO2), Dry powder, pellets, Water

Unsuitable media

Do not use water around molten metal.

Specific hazards

Special exposure hazards in a fire: Thermal decomposition can lead to release of irritating gases and vapours

Firefighter Protection

In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Use personal protective equipment. Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes. Ensure adequate ventilation. Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Keep people away from and upwind of spill/leak.

Environmental

Do not allow material to contaminate ground water system. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.

Cleanup methods

Soak up with inert absorbent material.

Materials: inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust)

Stability and Reactivity

Chemical stability, hazardous reactions, and incompatible materials

Stability

Stable under normal conditions.

Reactivity

Stable.

Hazardous reactions

Hazardous polymerisation does not occur.

Avoid

Excessive freezing over long periods of time degrades the resin. Freezing may cause a temporary base to develop. Excessive heat may increase viscosity and epoxide equivalent weights.

Incompatible

Strong oxidising agents. Strong acids. Strong bases.

Decomposition

Carbon oxides.
