First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

If unconscious place in recovery position and seek medical advice. Keep respiratory tract clear. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

Skin contact

Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash off with soap and plenty of water. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

Symptoms: Dermatitis

Eye contact

Flush eyes with water as a precaution. Remove contact lenses. Protect unharmed eye. Keep eye wide open while rinsing. If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/ attention.

Ingestion

Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water. Do NOT induce vomiting. Do not give milk or alcoholic beverages. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Take victim immediately to hospital.

Immediate Medical Attention

Take victim immediately to hospital.

Medical Treatment

Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Use water fog, foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide (CO2) to extinguish flames

Unsuitable media

High volume water jet

Specific hazards

Combustible.

Instructions

For safety reasons in case of fire, cans should be stored separately in closed containments. In the event of fire and/or explosion do not breathe fumes. Use a water spray to cool fully closed containers.

Firefighter Protection

In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Exposure to decomposition products may be a hazard to health.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Avoid contact with spilled material. Do not touch or walk through spilled material.

Large spill

Dyke far ahead of liquid spill for later recovery and disposal. Recover by pumping or with suitable absorbent

Environmental

Prevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Retain and dispose of contaminated wash water.

Cleanup methods

Recover by pumping or with suitable absorbent. Collect with non-combustible absorbent material. Clean contaminated floors and objects thoroughly.

Materials: non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite)

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Avoid formation of aerosol. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. For personal protection see section 8. Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area. Handle and open container with care. Do not spray on a naked flame or any incandescent material. Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition.

Storage

Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Containers which are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Observe label precautions. No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

Hygiene

Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area.

Fire prevention

Do not spray on a naked flame or any incandescent material. Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

No special requirements under ordinary conditions of use and with adequate ventilation.

Hands

Solvent-resistant gloves Before removing gloves clean them with soap and water. Please observe the instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. Also take into consideration the specific local conditions under which the product is used, such as the danger of cuts, abrasion, and the contact time. The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it.

Eyes

Eye wash bottle with pure water Tightly fitting safety goggles Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location. The applicable European standard can be found in EN 166.

Respiratory

In the case of vapour formation use a respirator with an approved filter. The applicable European standard can be found in EN 140, EN 137, EN 143, EN 14387.

Skin/Body

Impervious clothing Choose body protection according to the amount and concentration of the dangerous substance at the work place. The applicable European standard can be found in EN 14605.

Environmental

Prevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas. Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained. Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Retain and dispose of contaminated wash water. Try to prevent the material from entering drains or water courses. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.
