Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Dry chemical. CO₂, water spray or regular foam. Water spray, fog or regular foam.

Unsuitable media

Do not scatter spilled material with high pressure water streams.

Specific hazards

Some may burn but none ignite readily. Those substances designated with a "P" may polymerize explosively when heated or involved in a fire. Some may be transported hot.

Instructions

Move containers from fire area if you can do it without risk.

Firefighter Protection

As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent) and full protective gear.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Do not touch or walk through spilled material. Stop leak if you can do it without risk. Avoid inhalation of asbestos dust.

Large spill

Dike to collect large liquid spills.

Environmental

Prevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas.

Cleanup methods

Contain spillage, and then collect with non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite) and place in container for disposal according to local / national regulations (see section 13). Clean contaminated surface thoroughly.

Materials: non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, diatomaceous earth, vermiculite)
