First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Move to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If symptoms develop and persist, get medical attention.

Skin contact

Wash with soap and water. If hot material contacts the skin, immediately cool before attempting removal. If symptoms develop and persist, get medical attention.

Eye contact

Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist.

Ingestion

Do not induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical attention.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Water spray (fog), foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

Unsuitable media

Water spray may be ineffective. Oil will float on water and can spread fire.

Specific hazards

Closed containers may explode when exposed to extreme heat.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Use personal protection recommended in Section 8, isolate the hazard area and deny entry to unnecessary and unprotected personnel.

Environmental

Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Do not allow product to enter sewer or waterways.

Cleanup methods

Contaminated surfaces will be extremely slippery. Scrape up as much material as possible. Clean residue with soap and water.

Materials: soap and water

07

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Prevent contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Do not breathe vapor and mist. Wash thoroughly after handling. Keep container closed.

Storage

Keep in a cool, well ventilated area.

Hygiene

Wash thoroughly after handling.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Local exhaust ventilation is recommended when general ventilation is not sufficient to control airborne contamination below occupational exposure limits.

Hands

Use impermeable gloves as necessary to prevent skin contact.

Eyes

Safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields.

Respiratory

Use NIOSH approved respirator if there is potential to exceed exposure limit(s). Observe OSHA regulations for respirator use (29 CFR 1910.134).

Skin/Body

protective clothing as necessary to prevent skin contact.
