First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air. If symptoms persist, seek medical advice.

Skin contact

Immediately remove contaminated clothing. After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. Under no circumstances should organic solvent be used. If irritation develops, seek medical attention.

Eye contact

Wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open, consult an eye specialist.

Ingestion

Immediately rinse mouth and then drink 200-300 ml of water, seek medical attention. Do not induce vomiting unless told to by a poison control center or doctor.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area.

Storage

Keep only in the original container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from ignition sources, heat or flame. Protect from direct sunlight.

Hygiene

When using, do not eat, drink or smoke. Hands and/or face should be washed before breaks and at the end of the shift. At the end of the shift the skin should be cleaned and skin-care agents applied. Gloves must be inspected regularly and prior to each use. Replace if necessary (e.g. pinhole leaks).

Fire prevention

Normal measures for preventive fire protection.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Ventilation systems to ensure adequate ventilation.

Hands

impermeable gloves Synthetic rubber gloves Manufacturer's directions for use should be observed because of great diversity of types.

Eyes

Safety glasses with side-shields (frame goggles) (e.g. EN 166)

Respiratory

Wear respiratory protection if ventilation is inadequate. Combination filter for gases/vapours of organic, inorganic, acid inorganic and alkaline compounds (e.g. EN 14387 Type ABEK).

Skin/Body

Body protection must be chosen based on level of activity and exposure.
