First Aid

Emergency First Aid Measures

Critical first aid procedures for chemical exposure incidents and medical emergencies

Inhalation Exposure

Move to fresh air.

Skin Contact

Do not pull bonded skin apart. You can carefully separate them with a blunt object such as a spoon, preferably after soaking in warm soapy water. Burns should be treated normally after the glue has been removed from the skin. If lips are accidentally glued together, moisten the lips with warm water and encourage maximum wetting and pressure from saliva in the mouth. Peel or roll lips apart. Do not try to separate the lips by pulling them apart in opposite directions.

Symptoms:

In rare cases, a large drop can generate enough heat to cause a burn.

Eye Contact

If the eye is glued shut, loosen the eyelashes with warm water by dabbing them with a moist cotton pad. Keep the eye covered until the glue comes off. Do not force the eye open.

Symptoms:

Cyanoacrylate binds with the protein of the eye and causes a tearing reaction. Solid particles of cyanoacrylate behind the eyelid can scratch the eye.

Ingestion/Swallowing

Ensure airways are clear.

Symptoms:

The product polymerizes immediately in the mouth, making swallowing almost impossible.

Immediate Medical Attention Required

Consult a doctor if inhalation symptoms persist. Seek medical help if solid particles of cyanoacrylate are behind the eyelid and scratching the eye.
