Background
Chemical Inventory & Risk Management Platform
Features

Comprehensive inventory tracking and automated risk assessment.

EMKG Control Banding

4-step wizard classifying hazards across 5 exposure routes — inhalation, skin, eyes, fire, and storage — to determine control levels from basic ventilation to enclosed systems.

ECETOC TRA 3.2 Simulation

5-step exposure modelling with PROC categories (1-25), use type, ventilation, PPE, and colour-coded Risk Characterisation Ratios for inhalation and dermal routes.

RECESS Risk Scoring

Risk = Effect x Exposure x Probability. Effect auto-determined from H-codes. Colour-coded from green (limited risk) through yellow, orange, red to purple (stop activities).

EMKG Storage Classification

Classify chemicals from La-A (general storage) to La-F (explosives) with colour-coded hazard bars showing risk distribution across your inventory.

Ventilation & Controls

Configure ventilation from outdoor to enhanced mechanical. EMKG results drive control levels; ECETOC TRA factors ventilation and LEV into exposure predictions.

PPE Configuration

Specify respiratory protection efficiency and glove protection levels. ECETOC TRA factors PPE into predicted exposure calculations for both inhalation and dermal routes.

PROC Categories

Select Process Categories (PROC 1-25) from closed systems to high-energy spraying. Define use type (industrial/professional) and exposure duration.

Per-Location Inventory

Track product details, GHS symbols, quantities, and signal words per location. Expand rows for storage location, department, employees, and usage description.

Four EMKG Control Levels

Level 1: general ventilation. Level 2: engineering controls/LEV. Level 3: enclosed systems/monitoring. Expert: refer to occupational hygienist. Recognised by BAuA.

Component Selection

For mixtures, select specific components with CAS number and concentration. The system flags components with missing physical property data for ECETOC TRA.

RCR Colour Coding

Risk Characterisation Ratios: green (below 0.8), yellow (0.8-1.0), red (above 1.0). 8-hour and short-term values for both inhalation and dermal exposure.

Compliance Documentation

Save assessments to workplace locations. Export EMKG as PDF. All methods support REACH Article 14, EU Directive 98/24/EC, and ISO 45001 clause 6.1.2.

Methods

Three methods for complete risk coverage.

EMKG Control Banding

A 4-step wizard recognised by BAuA and aligned with EU Directive 98/24/EC. Classify hazard groups per exposure route, answer usage questions, and get a control level from basic ventilation to enclosed systems.

RECESS Risk Scoring

Calculate risk per product using Risk = Effect x Exposure x Probability. Effect is auto-determined from H-codes. Colour-coded results from green (20 or below) to purple (above 400) for immediate visual risk prioritisation.

ECETOC TRA 3.2 Simulation

Model predicted inhalation and dermal exposure with PROC categories, ventilation settings, and PPE. Get 8-hour and short-term exposure values with colour-coded RCR: green (safe), yellow (attention), red (exceeded).

Location-Based Inventory

Track chemicals per location with product details, GHS symbols, quantities, and signal words. Four inventory tabs: Storage classification, Inventory overview, RECESS assessment, and EMKG assessment results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We've got answers! The essential info about making chemical safety simple and accessible.

What are the three risk assessment methods?

EMKG control banding: a 4-step wizard classifying hazards across 5 routes to determine control levels. ECETOC TRA 3.2: a 5-step exposure simulation with PROC categories and colour-coded RCR values. RECESS scoring: Risk = Effect x Exposure x Probability with colour-coded results from green to purple.

How does EMKG control banding work?

Classify the product by physical state, select hazard groups per exposure route (inhalation A-E, skin HA-HE, eyes Au-A to Au-C, fire pc-A to pc-E, storage La-A to La-F), answer usage questions, and receive a control level from Level 1 (basic ventilation) to Expert (refer to hygienist).

What do the ECETOC TRA results show?

8-hour and short-term predicted exposure values plus Risk Characterisation Ratios (RCR). Green (below 0.8) means safe, yellow (0.8-1.0) needs attention, and red (above 1.0) means the exposure limit is exceeded. ECHA-recognised as a Tier 1 tool for REACH Article 14 assessments.

How is the RECESS risk score calculated?

Risk = Effect x Exposure x Probability. Effect is automatically determined from H-codes. Scores are colour-coded: green (20 or below), yellow (21-70), orange (71-200), red (201-400), purple (above 400). Results are tracked per location for compliance documentation.
