Exposure Controls & Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and required safety equipment

๐Ÿญ Engineering Controls

Adequate ventilation should be provided. If ventilation is insufficient, local exhaust ventilation or process enclosures should be considered.

๐Ÿงค Hand Protection

Gloves made of butyl rubber are recommended, with a breakthrough time of > 480 minutes and a thickness of 0.7 mm (e.g., Butoject 898). Gloves should be checked thoroughly before use and replaced in case of wear. Specifications are based on information from glove manufacturers or derived from similar substances. Due to varying conditions (temperature, load), the service life of chemical protective gloves can be significantly shorter than the permeation time determined according to EN 374. Actual usage conditions often deviate from the standard used in EN 374. Therefore, the glove manufacturer's recommendation is to adhere to a maximum of 50% of the recommended permeation time during use. Follow the instructions of the glove supplier carefully as several types of gloves are available. Gloves complying with EN 374 are available from KCL GmbH, D-36124 Eichenzell, [email protected].

๐Ÿ‘๏ธ Eye Protection

Safety dust goggles or safety glasses/eye protection complying with EN 166.

๐Ÿ˜ท Respiratory Protection

In case of insufficient ventilation, wear appropriate respiratory protection. Recommended filter type: AX (for organic gases and vapors with a low boiling point). Respiratory protection equipment should comply with EN 136, 140, 149.

๐Ÿฆบ Skin/Body Protection

Protective clothing complying with EN 340, 463, 468, 943-1, 943-2, and safety shoes complying with EN-ISO 20345.

๐ŸŒ Environmental Exposure Controls

Process in accordance with local environmental legislation and good industrial practices.
