First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Move the victim to fresh air and let them rest in a position that facilitates breathing. If the patient is not breathing, breathing irregularly, or if respiratory arrest occurs, artificial respiration or oxygen should be administered by trained personnel. This can be dangerous for the person performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Call for medical help if adverse health effects persist or are severe. Place in stable side position and immediately call for medical help if the person is unconscious. Keep airways clear. Loosen tight clothing, such as a shirt collar, tie, belt or sash.

Symptoms: After inhalation of decomposition products in case of fire, symptoms may occur with delay.

Skin contact

Wash with soap and plenty of water. Immediately remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Continue rinsing for at least 10 minutes. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Thoroughly clean shoes before reuse.

Symptoms: Skin irritations or allergic reactions. Complaints or symptoms of any kind.

Eye contact

Immediately rinse eyes with copious amounts of water, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Remove contact lenses. Continue rinsing for at least 10 minutes.

Symptoms: If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist. Seek medical attention if symptoms develop.

Ingestion

Rinse mouth with water. Do not induce vomiting, unless instructed to do so by medical professionals.

Symptoms: Symptoms develop.

Immediate Medical Attention

Call for medical help if adverse health effects persist or are severe. Immediately call for medical help if the person is unconscious. Seek medical attention if symptoms develop.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering
