First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Loosen tight clothing such as a collar, tie, belt or waistband. If not breathing, if breathing is irregular or if respiratory arrest occurs, provide artificial respiration or oxygen by trained personnel. If unconscious, place in recovery position and get medical attention immediately. Maintain open airway.

Symptoms: May cause respiratory irritation.

Skin contact

If on skin, rinse well with water. If on clothes, remove clothes. If skin irritation persists, call a physician.

Symptoms: Causes skin irritation.

Eye contact

Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Keep eye wide open while rinsing. Remove contact lenses. Protect unharmed eye. Continue to rinse for at least 10 minutes. Call a physician if irritation develops or persists.

Symptoms: Causes serious eye irritation.

Ingestion

Do not induce vomiting without medical advice. Keep respiratory tract clear. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Rinse mouth with water. If a person feels unwell or symptoms of skin irritation appear, consult a physician.

Immediate Medical Attention

If unconscious, place in recovery position and get medical attention immediately.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically.

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Use only with adequate ventilation. If user operations generate dust, fumes, gas, vapour or mist, use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation or other engineering controls to keep worker exposure to airborne contaminants below any recommended or statutory limits.

Hands

Material: Fluorinated rubber - FKM; Break through time: >= 8 h; Glove thickness: >= 0,4 mm; Wearing time: < 60 min. Remarks: The suitability for a specific workplace should be discussed with the producers of the protective gloves. After contamination with product change the gloves immediately and dispose of them according to relevant national and local regulations.

Eyes

Tightly fitting safety goggles. Wear face-shield and protective suit for abnormal processing problems.

Respiratory

In the case of vapour formation use a respirator with an approved filter. Wear breathing apparatus with separate air supply (compressed air respirator, tube apparatus) at higher concentrations. Filter type: Combined inorganic and acidic gas/vapour, ammonia/amines and organic vapour type (ABEK).
