Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove victim to fresh air. Get medical attention.

Symptoms: Mild irritation to nose and throat may occur when the PEL or TLV are exceeded (see Section 15).

Skin contact

Wash with water.

Symptoms: Etibor-48 is mildly alkaline. Can be irritating. Can be readily absorbed through broken or abraded skin.

Eye contact

Flush eyes with plenty of water. Call a physician if irritation persists.

Symptoms: May cause eye irritation.

Ingestion

Call a physician or poison control center. Do not induce vomiting. It is not intended for ingestion.

Symptoms: Maybe harmful if swallowed. Amounts greater than one teaspoonful, when ingested, may cause gastrointestinal problems.

Immediate Medical Attention

Call a physician or poison control center. Get medical attention. Call a physician if irritation persists.

Medical Treatment

Treat symptomatically and supportively.

05

Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Use water spray, dry chemical, carbon dioxide, or appropriate foam.

Specific hazards

During a fire, irritating and highly toxic gases may be generated by thermal decomposition or combustion.

Instructions

Use agent most appropriate to extinguish fire.

Firefighter Protection

wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (approved or equivalent), and full protective gear.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Cleanup methods

Vacuum or sweep up material and place into a suitable disposal container. Clean up spills immediately, observing precautions in the Protective Equipment section.

Handling and Storage

Safe handling precautions, storage conditions, and workplace requirements

Handling

Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing. Do not breathe dust, vapor, mist, or gas. Avoid ingestion and inhalation.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances.

Hygiene

Wash thoroughly after handling.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped with an eyewash facility and a safety shower. Use adequate ventilation to keep airborne concentrations low.

Hands

Wear appropriate protective gloves to prevent skin exposure.

Eyes

Wear appropriate protective eyeglasses or chemical safety goggles as described by OSHA's eye and face protection regulations in 29 CFR 1910.133 or European Standard EN166.

Respiratory

A respiratory protection program that meets OSHA's 29 CFR §1910.134 and ANSI Z88.2 requirements or European Standard EN 149 must be followed whenever workplace conditions warrant a respirator's use.

Skin/Body

Wear appropriate protective clothing to prevent skin exposure.
