Emergency First Aid Measures
Critical first aid procedures for chemical exposure incidents and medical emergencies
๐ซ Inhalation Exposure
Move to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical attention if discomfort develops or persists.
Symptoms:
headache, nausea, vomiting and an altered state of consciousness.
๐๏ธ Skin Contact
Immediately remove contaminated clothing. Wash with soap and water. Continue to rinse for at least 15 minutes. In case of rashes, wounds or other skin disorders: Seek medical attention and bring along these instructions.
Symptoms:
rashes, wounds or other skin disorders
๐๏ธ Eye Contact
Immediately flush with plenty of water for up to 15 minutes. Remove any contact lenses and open eyelids wide apart. Get medical attention if irritation develops or persists.
Symptoms:
irritation
๐ฝ๏ธ Ingestion/Swallowing
Immediately rinse mouth and drink plenty of water or milk. Keep person under observation. Do not induce vomiting. If vomiting occurs, keep head low. Transport immediately to hospital and take these instructions.
๐จ Immediate Medical Attention Required
Transport immediately to hospital and take these instructions.
Medical Treatment

Exposure Controls & Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and required safety equipment
๐ญ Engineering Controls
Provide adequate ventilation. Observe Occupational Exposure Limits and minimise the risk of inhalation of vapours. Provide easy access to water supply and eye wash facilities. Use explosion-proof equipment.
๐งค Hand Protection
Wear protective gloves. Suitability and durability of a glove is dependent upon usage (frequency and duration of contact), chemical resistance of glove material, and glove thickness. Nitrile gloves (minimum 0.38 mm thickness) are recommended, but be aware that the liquid may penetrate the gloves. Frequent change is advisable. Select Nitrile gloves tested to EN374 with breakthrough time of >240 minutes. For short-term, incidental contact, PVC gloves (minimum 1.3 mm thickness with breakthrough time of >60 minutes) may be suitable. Suitable gloves meeting these recommendations can be obtained from a glove supplier.
๐๏ธ Eye Protection
Wear goggles/face shield.
๐ท Respiratory Protection
In case of inadequate ventilation or risk of inhalation of vapours, use suitable respiratory equipment with gas filter (type A2). Wear air-supplied mask in confined areas. Seek advice from local supervisor.
๐ฆบ Skin/Body Protection
Protection suit must be worn. Anti-static and flame-retardant protective clothing is recommended.
๐ Environmental Exposure Controls
Contain spills and prevent releases and observe national regulations on emissions.
