First Aid Measures
Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents
Remove victim to fresh air.
Flush area with water. Launder clothing before reuse.
Flush eyes with water for 15 minutes.
Symptoms: Irritation and inflammation of the eye. Concentrated solutions (over 20%) may cause severe eye damage or burns.
Remove victim to fresh air.
Symptoms: Abdominal pain, nausea, and or vomiting. Concentrated solutions (over 20%) can cause burns of the mouth, bleeding stomach, incoordination, muscle spasms, and/or kidney injury.
Immediate Medical Attention
Seek medical attention (for eye contact). If irritation persists, seek medical attention (for skin contact). If there is difficulty breathing, seek immediate medical attention (for inhalation/ingestion).
Medical Treatment
Treatment includes the use of demulcents.
Firefighting Measures
Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection
Use extinguishing media suitable for surrounding fire.
Under fire conditions greater than 650°C (1202°F), product decomposes to give off sulfur trioxide, an oxidizing agent which will support combustion. Sulfur trioxide will react with water to form sulfuric acid.
Use water spray to cool containers and structures exposed to fire.
Firefighter Protection
Fire-fighters should wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing.
Accidental Release Measures
Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection
Secure area. Evacuate unnecessary personnel.
Do not allow spilled material to enter sewers and surface watercourses.
Sweep up spilled material, being careful not create dust. Place material in a suitable container for disposal.

Physical and Chemical Properties
Appearance, physical state, melting point, boiling point, and material characteristics
Stability and Reactivity
Chemical stability, hazardous reactions, and incompatible materials
Stable
Alkalis and water reactive materials, such as oleum, cause exothermic reactions.
Will not occur
Temperatures above 760 °C.
Contact with water forms sulphuric acid. Water reactive materials such as oleum cause exothermic reactions. Strong bases, strong oxidizing agents, and alkalis.
Not expected to decompose under normal conditions of use. At temperatures above 760 °C, sulphur oxide gases are released which are toxic, corrosive and are oxidizers. The remaining residues are caustic. The trioxide is also a fire hazard, Oxides of aluminium. May corrode ferrous metals and mild steel in the presence of moisture.
