First Aid Measures

Emergency procedures for chemical exposure incidents

Inhalation

Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. In case of breathing difficulties administer oxygen. Call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician.

Symptoms: This product may liberate toxic and flammable hydrogen sulfide gas. Toxic if inhaled. Irritation of respiratory tract.

Skin contact

After contact with the molten product, cool rapidly with cold water. Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothing immediately and dispose of safely. In all cases of doubt, or when symptoms persist, seek medical advice.

Symptoms: The hot liquid may cause severe skin burns.

Eye contact

Rinse immediately and plentifully with water, also under the eyelids, for at least 20 minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Consult an ophtalmologist if irritation persists.

Ingestion

Unlikely route of exposure. If accidentally swallowed rinse the mouth with plenty of water (only if the person is conscious) and obtain immediate medical attention. Do NOT induce vomiting.

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Provide exhaust ventilation or other engineering controls to keep the airborne concentrations of mists and/or vapors below the recommended exposure limits.

Hands

Wear suitable gloves tested to EN 374. Breakthrough times and swelling properties of the material must be taken into consideration. Nitrile-rubber protective gloves. Consult glove manufacturer s product information on material suitability and material thickness.

Eyes

Wear eye glasses with side protection according to EN 166.

Respiratory

In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment. Wear a respirator conforming to EN140 with Type A/P2 filter or better

Skin/Body

Wear suitable protective clothing. EN 14605
