Firefighting Measures

Extinguishing media, specific hazards, and firefighter protection

Suitable media

Use extinguishing media suitable for surrounding fire or the cause of fire. Keep containers cool by spraying with water.

Specific hazards

When heated and in case of fire, harmful vapours/gases may be formed. Corrosive vapours.

Instructions

Avoid breathing fire gases or vapours. Evacuate area. Keep upwind to avoid inhalation of gases, vapours, fumes and smoke. Cool containers exposed to heat with water spray and remove them from the fire area if it can be done without risk. Cool containers exposed to flames with water until well after the fire is out.

Firefighter Protection

Wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Wear protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes.

06

Accidental Release Measures

Spill cleanup procedures, containment, and environmental protection

Emergency procedures

Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Only qualified personnel equipped with suitable protective equipment may intervene.

Small spill

Flush area to drain with plenty of water.

Large spill

Where possible, transfer to a container for reuse or disposal (see Disposal Considerations – Section 13). Contain and absorb using earth, sand or other inert material. Flush area to drain with plenty of water. Treat as industrial waste.

Environmental

Spillages or uncontrolled contamination of soil or discharges into watercourses, drains or sewers must be reported immediately to the Environment Agency, local water company or other appropriate regulatory bodies. Do not allow to contaminate vegetation, or enter drains or water courses.

Cleanup methods

Flush area to drain with plenty of water. Treat as industrial waste.

Fire prevention

Eliminate all sources of ignition. Keep away from ignition sources.

08

Exposure Controls / PPE

Occupational exposure limits, engineering controls, and protective equipment

Engineering

Keep in a cool place. Emergency eye wash fountains and safety showers should be available in the immediate vicinity of any potential exposure.

Hands

Protective gloves against chemicals (EN 374). Protective gloves complying with EN 374. Please observe the instructions regarding permeability and breakthrough time which are provided by the supplier of the gloves. Also take into consideration the specific local conditions under which the product is used, such as the danger of cuts, abrasion, and the contact time. Protective gloves should be replaced at first signs of wear.

Eyes

Chemical goggles or face shield. Protective goggles (EN 166)

Respiratory

In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment
